M+ resilient key 'tipping'

It’s not, it’s advertising.

yeah advertising might be prohibited but gold carries are ok according to support articles "Individuals and guilds selling items and profession services for gold is allowed but can only be advertised in-game through the Trade chat channel.

Individuals and guilds selling boost or assistance in raiding, dungeon, or PvP activities for gold is allowed but can only be advertised in-game through the Trade Services chat channel."

and then, everyone who tried to abuse the reporting system will have to get banned )

not the brightest bulb are you ? the services channel is there to advertise boosting .LFG is to put your keys and group people up .not plague it with your boosting services ads .

that is, you want to be accepted into a group, asked the same question, you would refuse, and you would be kicked, wasting both your time and his. excellent logic )

I know, that’s exactly what I said

My vision is very clear: I would fight all boosting and ban it. boost/tips/gdk = toxic for the game = ban

But yes, Blizzard is hypocritical, I 100% agree with that.

When you see the top guilds worldwide on the Steam title, x2 boost mm raid (and when you check, it’s in euros, very easy to verify, by the way), it’s even funny.

Anyway, you are not a top guild, and making boost/tip announcements on the LFG is banable

Same reason I had a problem with the LFG being clogged up with more obvious and direct sellers. And yes, “tips welcome” “note tips” “tips appreciated” is no different from the spam that was “WTS WEEKLY KEY 150K GOLD”, “TEAM SELLING KEYS, 30K AN ATTEMPT”, “SOLO BOOST PAY WHAT YOU WANT!”

Tips is just the new WTS wording, it is just as obnoxious and it clogs up the tool and makes finding actual groups so much more annoying.

Currently it is maybe 1:10 groups being a “tips” group. Same was the start with the WTS era. If it is allowed to be normalised, then it will as with the WTS era suddenly just become one large WTS/Tips (They are the exact same, selling a service).

I already spend 2-5 minutes filtering out the “tips” groups and reporting them. So I can finally start to see groups that are just looking for players and not a pay day.

In-Game Advertising - Blizzard Support

Individuals and guilds selling boost or assistance in raiding, dungeon, or PvP activities for gold is allowed but can only be advertised in-game through the Trade Services chat channel.

This includes any and all references to “tips”, “tipping”, or other synonyms of these words.

Advertising for gameplay activities should be done by a WoW player-character who intends to participate in the gameplay activities. This means there should be no cross-realm advertising, and there should be no advertising from non-participating players.

… so, it is against the ToS to ask for tips. Now sod off to tradeservices.

I still haven’t seen any of these and all I’ve done so far this week is farm crests to upgrade all my existing gear.

However, reporting the listing is definitely the way to go.

yeah in LFG it’s not allowed but it’s not illegal to sell runs for gold, so you are fighting the advertisement not the hustle.

OTOH - I haven’t seen a single “tips appreciated” group - checking now -none… idk are you sure they are this common???

I see at least one every time I play.

There is like one new group asking for / encouraging tips every 2-5 minutes now, depending on time and date.
This thing really needs to die quick, or the higher M+ reaches will evolve into a cluster of keys that you’ll have to pay your way into.

I mean. Yeah, fair enough i wouldn’t use it either way. But sure, ban it. I don’t think it is healthy for the game. But i try to be fair and some have argued they like to practice pulls…which leads me to…

I want keys to not deplete and just choose whatever key you like from a drop down menu. Do all 11s, can do any 12 etc. In this system tipping doesn’t exist.

Sorry i just necrod the thread, i’m getting random notifications and i don’t know what’s up

don’t hesitate to mass report themthey will be banned and probably disqualified (if they are at 0.1% for the r1 title) !

IMO that would be a bit too much. What I would prefer is to add an additional achievement: Persistent keys 2.0. Where after a +15 keys simply don’t deplete.

But a drop-down where you choose which key to do will create even more degenerate behavior than today. For example, people only playing DFC and nothing else. For example.

The problem is getting worse, now they started to use the keyword ‘note’ to “hide” and the number of ‘note tip’ groups have increased drastically. Being 1/3rd now from 1/10th of groups I saw a week ago. It is the same as was seen before the “WTS” meta in LFG took over the whole thing and made it unusable. It started slow, then as nothing was done, it balled out of control.

Hopefully Blizzard will take action and get the “Tips” that is just “WTS” rebranded out of the tool. I keep reporting, yet, the problem persists.

What is even worse, when I sign up my own key - this ‘tip culture’ has now become so normalised that people note “paying 30k gold” in their notes, for groups that doesn’t even request it.

This is a cultural shift and rot within the community and not to mention how the LFG tool is used. If this corruption is allowed to continue, it will only worsen.

So please, devs, take heed and take action before it is too late. Make loud examples and scare away the worst of it. Treat it like what it is, not only on your site and in TOS, but with action.

I will continue to report the groups, as they clog up my searches, but this is just history repeating itself again. Soon I will be spending more time reporting than actual queing, just so I can see actual groups in the finder.

I report every single group that mentions a ‘‘note’’ or ‘‘tip’’ in the LFG descriptions. One guy had ‘‘note’’ and I whispered him, saying the tip culture is toxic. He said ‘‘who says I am asking for a tip?’’ So I asked him what he wanted to see in a note then - no reply.

It’s mostly in higher keys. 15 and up.

I have to specifically search for ‘tips’ to find them and last time I looked only two came up. Hopefully Blizz will crack down hard on this practice.

Okay but theres a lot of variables to account for. One being your LFG settings - languages, groups who already have a tank, healer, etc. Then it depends on the LFG groups themselves if they set a base io to apply to them (and thus also see them in LFG). Then there is the time of day. Are you looking at 3 am when everyone is asleep, or during peak hours / in the weekend? You’re taking a weird stance by supporting reporting them but at the same time sort of downplaying the problem and saying you ‘‘don’t really see it’’.

So I should lie about what I see in the group finder?!?!

Ever since this issue was first highlighted I’ve struggled to see it reflected in the group finder. I’m always going to comment honestly.

It is not allowed, it shouldn’t be there and people should report the players doing this.
