M+ Runs: DF S4 vs TWW S1

Disagree.

You’re comparing an end of expansion season (a low interest re-run) with a beginning of expansion season (should be hyped, new players etc).

It’s an abject failure.

Week 5 DF - 1.676M runs. Week 5 TWW - 1.473M runs
Week 10 DF - 1.473M runs. Week 10 TWW - 0.954M runs
Week 12 DF - 1.540M runs. Week 16 TWW -0.668M runs

As much as we hate to say it, there may actually be some credence behind the claims that Mythic+ participation is at an all-time low. There will always be a drop-off in participation as the Season progresses, but The War Within is the only one with such a steady decline.

Additionally, in the 13th Week of the Season, the number of Mythic+ dungeons being completed for TWW is not even reaching ⅓ of the 1st Week numbers. We didn’t see that kind of drop-off in either Dragonflight or Shadowlands. We did see a similar effect in Battle of Azeroth, but if the goal is for each expansion to improve and grow the Mythic+ system, seeing BFA numbers is likely not a sign that things are moving in the right direction.

Even if you exclude the squish effect - thats only absolute numbers. The week on week drop as people opt out speaks volumes about how badly this season 1 has been received.

I personally hope them moving that annoying affix to +12 and beyond will solve a few things. I admit, it held me back from doing pugs. I do play in a community too, but there’s only so much keys that require a healer or tank  !

Well I ran quite a few keys in season 4 and none this season so clearly I was the problem.

literal non issue, a time where player are in for 0,001% of their gametime on their char

DF S4 was lackluster because without seasonal affix it was S1 just with less key levels. Not exactly exciting content.

In Dragonflight Season 4, I only did four dungeons to get the missing portals and then bailed out, spending my time playing the Mists of Pandaria remix or other games instead. The game felt extremely boring, and I’m not a fan of Bullion system. It felt really bad to get a legendary in Season 3 and then not even use it in Season 4 because it was just the same content with zero effort from Blizzard’s side.

This season isn’t as bad as Season 4, but the changes have made it horrible for PUG players. If the population of players who play at random hours can’t progress, they’d rather just drop the game entirely. I understand Blizzard wants us to play the game in organized groups, and in an ideal world where we could sit in front of a PC for 8-12 hours a day while someone sends us weekly or monthly paychecks, we would. Unfortunately, we don’t live in that kind of world.

Additionally, changes to difficulty and the way interrupting and spell canceling works have made the game awful for PUGs. On top of that, the dungeon pool this season is very poorly received, as many people have pointed out. It’s multiple issues coming together to create an experience that feels obnoxious to players. And first impressions in an expansion matter.

Agreed.

We also need another metric here, which I don’t know if any tool exists that can gather it: How many people who were doing keys in previous seasons moved to Delves?

well i was on break from playing any dungeons / dvelves for past 3 months i think ? so kinda ?

garbage design is … garbage

the anniversary was good - farmed a bit of hallows end , now im doing daily 1x plunder storm and 1 chemical dungeon for rocket which will not drop

be carefull - this weekend i will do couple of m+ to get the KSM mount finaly  so avoid them if you dont want to meet me there

On your Aug? Thats fine, i never invite Augs to +10 anyways. And if its on your hunter, i dont tend to stack classes in Pugs either, and since i play hunter, i think im safe.
