no one got title atm - maybe with daily reset in NA i guess
They could maybe rank it based on speccs?
Would let people push for stuff like this without feeling forced into playing the meta.
Whilst I agree that there should be better communication, it’s also undeniable that the buff working in keys was an oversight by blizzard and people that took advantage of it knew it was something shady and not 100% intended.
Whether they should be punished or not or how they should be punished, that’s a totally different story, but I knew the moment I saw that buff that it wasn’t intended to be working like that. I’m sure people that used or abused it are smart enough to agree with me that they should’ve known better.
What about people that just accepted a quest and thought nothing of it?
I think what really should happen is that they go through the individual keys for everyone and see for themselves. If someone was constantly using it and it shows up on multiple keys they cannot really claim ignorance as to what they were doing. People who have it on 1 key should be given the benefit of the doubt in my opinion, maybe they just accepted the quest without actually knowing. With all that said, blizzard should have patched it sooner and/or communicated better, as in give the people who used this the chance to redo the dungeons without it, so as to not loose the title.
I have not even finished a key with it, i was in a group and someone randomly shared a quest and i accepted. We wiped and disbanded, after the dungeon i read what it did and made a bug report and removed the quest.
The funny thing about this is that they said the title would go out yesterday yet nobody got it, so everyone is freaking out. Idk if that’s intended or not, but jesus they could at least do what they say they would. Now literally everyone is wondering if someone had the buff on one of their keys and they didn’t notice or something XD
Be very careful how you handle this.
Also the fact that this “bug abuse” gave stats equivalent to 1-2 overall item level, which is completely out of proportion to plenty other actual exploits we’ve seen live on MDI / TGP tournaments and retail which actually had a great impact on how fast and high you could complete the respective key at that time. (Pleagueborer incident, Sanguine Depths lanterns which people have constantly been finding new ways to exploit)
This buff had very little to no impact on completion of a key. I’m not saying exploits shouldn’t be punished and there wasn’t a risk, but out of everything this seemed the least “exoploit-y” I’ve ever come across in the M+ scene.
And seemingly everyone used it. In 3 weeks of intensive M+ pug grind I have barely met a single group not using it. I don’t see a fair way to eliminate people without adjusting the cutoff and spending months looking into every single case of an unfortunate quest accept for a relevant run.
Plagueborer incident is different. Iron docks 3rd boss on the boat is more like it I think.
Plagueborer were just doing more damage than intended, but that was a dungeon mechanic, not an external buff from eastern plaguelands from a leveling quest. There’s a big difference.
Snapping affix bosses using campfire/taunt, Knife resetting last boss HoA, Stam buff from pvp… All of these went without saying and saved enormous amounts of time in a key [with the exception of the stam buff]. Do ye just pick and choose what ye want to punish or not? Or is it because ye have free time on yer hands now?
I believe the buff is just easier to track on a large scale than resetting last HoA boss or snapping affixes.
It was a 5% stat buff and 10% stamina, huge advantage at M+ especially high keys.
There being a difference was not the point, both can be considered exploits as the definition of “exploit” is completely down to blizzard saying something was intended to work or not. Both of these things were not intended like that, and one gave a massive point advantage as it was fixed late in season and the dungeon had been significantly harder to time since. Hint: it was not some quest buff.
But as stated before the disqualification itself it not my issue with this, but the general handling and lack of whitelitsts, plus the timing of such a drastic decision after they have just been watching people use it since multiple seasons.
I agree that they should’ve communicated it, but that’s about it. You can only hope they know better in the future really.
Btw using plagueborer in PF isn’t comparable to using a level 31 quest to get an edge over the key.
That’s like saying warriors are exploiting by reflecting ToP or upper kara’s last boss spells.
The plagueborer incident isn’t referring to using plagueborers in general, but to season one of the great push, where Echo won by using a misdirect bug to get plagueborers to snap to the tank through the entire dungeon. I’d say that’s a fair bit more directly exploit-y (and at least a lot more impactful) than smuggling in a random quest buff.
I wasn’t aware of that but I agree. Again, it’s kind of the same situation with ID’s 3rd boss bug that everyone was using. But tbf, they were pretty quick to fix all other ID unintended mechanics, so it is what it is I guess.
Yes exactly that I was referring to. Maybe it wasn’t obvious what I meant, thanks for the clarification.
Did any of you guys get the title yet?
