M+10 gatekeeping

Hello Everyone! I’ve gotten back into the game this month since DF, and as per usual, I’ve been trying to get my ret pal into M+. I cluelessly got to ‘+9’ two weeks ago, and no one took me into +10 back then. I didn’t pay too much attention to this and decided to spend my preserved resources (which can obviously be used for better things than raising my ilvl to 660). This week, I’ve been completing +9 for every M dungeon. Yesterday was really fun - the very last M+9 was CM, and straight away, three parties in a row went by in the same scenario: tank pulls half of the first room, wipes, leaves.
Overall, I didn’t notice anything too hard, 95% of runs were successful, but +10 is like a WALL - I just can’t get through. I was signing to parties for a two days for hours and now one takes me into party. What are party leaders expecting to see from an applicant to take them into their party? Is there something entirely wrong with signing up to +10 with ilvl 660, and if I’ll get it to 671, will things change immediately?

the difference between a 9 and a 10 is similar and a 10 was already done at the start of the season with 638 ilvl looked at tutorials / onebuton, 650 ilvl and there should be no problems

No, but you’d be one of the 36 DPS players signing up, half of which are 675+ geared. You just will not stand out in any shape or form.

Nah ilvl is not the problem, experience is.

Frankly it is pretty hard to get into groups for +10s because people that have +10s just want a smooth run, and there is a plethora of players that wanna do their weeklies (most of them 3k+).

The “wall” you seem to be observing is just players that are in a similar place as you, that just take the first players that apply, and that makes the runs highly random.

Best thing you can do since you have multiple +9s, is to push your own key, make a group with players with experience (even with alts they are pretty easy if they know what to do), and just spam your own key. ilvl does not really matter, but the experience you will get with people that have been farming those dungeons for a season will make a big difference.

My recommendation is to run your own keys from 7 to 10 and beyond.

Unless you’re a tank or a healer, you will be waiting a while to get into a group unless you get lucky.

Also, most +10 runs now are just people running them to get their weekly limit for the vault, so it will be hard to get picked over those people who are higher ilvl than yourself. So running your keys is the quickest way to go.

run your own key .get experience for +10 then people will invite you in theirs . easy peasy.

You gotta realise that for +10 you compete with 680 + itlv dps with 3k score just spamming for weekly gv.

So instead wasting time - push your own key to +10 .

Here all your problems solved instantly

You are welcome

Join a community and/or guild that’s focused on M+.

If you can do +9 you can do +10 you might need to do it on own key at first.

I wont repeat what everyone else has said. But pretty much what i did on all my alts was to push my own key to 10, do a few of those (i degraded every time to 10-11). Then when you have a few under your belt, you can either continue pushing your own or sign up. Youre more likely to get into a group when youve done a few.

The latter might help get you the last 10s you need. But first and foremost run your own

There is no m+10 gatekeeping. Your 660 ilevel dps pala is pretty much invisible among the 680+ dps signing up for the weekly vault chore.

Like many others have said. Push your own key. You can then decide who gets in and have better control of who joins.

I am starting to want to get picky myself and i am only doing 7’s. But ive seen enough crap at 7 with people getting whacked and one shotted due to stupid errors that maybe i shhould start looking at their RIO pages to find out what they have done.

I know people look at me considering how long it takes them to let me join. So i should be picky as well.

I recommend joining a community dedicated to m+, one that helps people to progress. On Discord for example No Pressure -EU. Helped me get my last few runs for the 3k.

I think you should join m+ communities in general(unless you are goal is 0.1% title or something then its obvious networking/friends).
No need to deal with ragequiting pugs and etc.

It was SO much better than pugging. xD I get so anxious when pugging high keys but after I joined the discord group, I just felt so much better. Accidents happen and no one is there to shame. Normally I run with guildies but sometimes either they’re not around or you got something else going on and want to catch up later when you’re able.

99% just want to do their weekly. They just want people who’re as overgeared and overqualified as them.
My advice would be for you to que your own key.

not necessarily .that is why you make your own key .you are not overqualified for your own key but for compensating that you want overqualified people who can make it easier for you to complete that key .

To be frank I avoid 3k RIO ppl like the plague for my weekly vaults run (as a tank). Not because they’re over geared, or overqualified, etc.

I just don’t like it when some DPS think he can dictate the mob size for me, which happens more times than I’d like with said players. I also find low score players (not low ilvl, mind you) better focused and I don’t actually mind giving them a boost, if you can even call it that.
