I’ve encountered an issue with World of Warcraft on my Mac. Apple has released a new version of its operating system - Sonoma 14.0, which significantly enhances gaming performance thanks to the Game Mode. However, it doesn’t seem to work with WoW, as I can’t enable the full-screen mode in the game. There are two modes available: windowed and full screen (windowed). As I understand, Blizzard removed the full-screen option in BFA.
Is there a way to manually enable full-screen mode so that Game Mode gets activated?
I’ve tried the standard methods of enabling full-screen mode but to no avail. I would greatly appreciate any assistance or advice on this matter. Perhaps some of you have faced a similar issue and know a solution?
Thank you in advance for your responses and support!
My not particularly helpful reflex response would be to tell you to dual boot windows but I realize that’s probably not a preference of yours.
My slightly more helpful suggestion would be to try the technical support area of the forums, as those guys probably know more.
What you are describing could also be a bug, worth keeping in mind that if you are on the bleeding edge of OS releases, then sometimes games won’t have been patched to support them, yet.
I appreciate the suggestion of dual-booting with Windows, but indeed, I’d like to maintain the macOS environment.
I’ve been following this specific topic on the Blizzard forum, where many players are discussing the performance of WoW on macOS Sonoma. It seems many of them might not be aware that the Game Mode isn’t activating for them. I will definitely try reaching out in the technical support section for more insights.
I’m aware that being on the latest OS might have compatibility issues initially, but since the beta has been out for over six months, I was hopeful that there might be some solutions or workarounds available. It’s indeed possible it could be a bug, and I’ll keep that in mind.
Thank you again for your suggestions. I’ll continue exploring potential fixes and will keep the community updated on any progress.
