Macbook Air M3 - WindowServer Process "stacking" up after restart

Hello dear community,

I’ll keep it short and hopefully as simple as possible:

  1. I start WoW Classic for the first time after a reboot of the MacBook or a login.
  2. WoW runs without issues, and the game’s performance is within the expected range. The “WindowServer” process is in the normal range (20-25% CPU usage).
  3. I close the WoW application.
  • This is where the problem starts.
  1. I start WoW again.
  2. The “WindowServer” process is immediately twice as high as during the first launch, now at around 40-50% usage. Along with this come FPS drops and an increase in temperature of about 10-20 degrees Celsius.

My current solution:
Logging out of my MacBook and logging back in. WoW will then start for the first time again (see point 1).

My Specs:
Macbook Air M3
16 Gb Ram
macOs Seqouia Version 15.0.1

This problem only occurs with WoW. It doesn’t get better or worse over time. It is not the memory leak that I am already familiar with.

Does anyone know a solution? I would be happy not to have to log out of my user account every time to restart WoW.

Thank you very much and best regards.
