I would like to ask you if my laptop can handle retail without overheating itself.
It’s macbook pro 2017 13’ with installed Catalina update. There are specs:
Intel Core i5-7360u
Intel Iris Plus 640
8 GB RAM
Does it have a chance to work fine or there is no way?
WoW is made for dedicated cards, your integrated gpu can be too weak even on lowest settings, but this game used to shock people who could run it on potato, so if you ask because you want to buy this computer i wouldn’t advise to do so (at least for gaming).
Edit: I’ve checked and your card can run GTA 5 on low with good 55 FPS, so there is a chance to play WoW smoothly on Low settings.

The game will run but on lower quality settings.

From an hardware standpoint the system you described meets the minimum requirements, so you should be able to run the game ^^
As Bigkeg mentioned however you’ll need to settle for low settings.
