MacBook Pro M1 - GPU is in Low Power Mode?

Hello,

I’m on a MacBook Pro 13-inch M1 2020. I use an external 4k office monitor that also charges the notebook. I get around 45 FPS average I’d say and that’s fine for me. Today I noticed I can chose the GPU though and I can only choose “Apple M1 Low-Power”, which isn’t a surprise. Now I set low pwoer mode to never in the settings of my macbook.

I don’t have my MacBook charger anymore, I always use my external monitor and if I REALLY need it, I use some random charger.

Why is the GPU in low power mode? Is it just an issue with getting information or would I get more performance if I used a proper charger?

The simple thing to do is connect a separate power supply and see what happens, right? Failing that, this Reddit thread on M1 low power mode may be useful.
