I know there are sources out on the web that tell you how to create macro’s, but many of them are outdated, and I was just thinking how useful it would be if I could find a up to date source IN GAME.
Macro’s can be really useful and I’m sure most people have at least a few!
Not as many as I used to have, since the GCD more-or-less killed most Bursty type macros. It’s so rare these days that I think “I’ll macro those two spells as a good opener”. Sometimes (if I remember) I’ll macro an on-use effect from a trinket with something.
I miss having more of them. I’d love to macro Frost Shock and Flame Shock as an opener or similar but bliz thinks this raises the skill ceiling too much or something.
I macro literally everything. My entire bar (I can fit everything within the normal hotbar and bottom right) consists of consolidation macro’s. It’s so clean
If you play in a level that macros improve quality of your play you allready know what they are and how they work. If you starting playing the game press esc to see what can you do in regards of settings to improve your game before starting it and explore you will inevitably stumble across that definition and delve into. If you not interested in game settings and optimazing your game and just start palying. Then I think adding macro to learning experience will just confuse people even more. People might think they have to use them to play optimaly and get intimidated like I did when I discoverd u have to hold right mouse button most of the time. Eventually yeah. I think they not made one in purpose to leave it to the player.
I didn’t say hit them in the head with macro’s, just that it should be easy to look up in game.
Most endgame focused players use some macro’s, so why not allow them the chance to find them in a neatly archived database?
Because its moving the burden from the community to Blizzard.
Why on earth would Blizz do that? They’d have to start supporting people with tickets like “I misspelt a spell and my macro doesn’t work”, on the other side you’d have people moaning that “oh, so now I have to become a programming expert to play the game huh?”
Theres no circumstance that this will happen, ever.
If you want Blizzard to make any sort of tutorial about wow let them start with how to taunt/dispel/interrupt. You know, the basic class utility in group content.
A tutorial doesn’t really do anything. You even have people in +17s that aren’t interrupting. Bone spear goes off on low hp on a raging week and someone dies to it? “Healer, what are you doing?”. Oh, I’m supposed to outheal something that overkills you by some 30-40k damage?
Imagine to not have to scurry the web to look for the most up to date articles on macro’s etc, and then finding out that they don’t have anything about the macro that you’re looking for.
I’ve been macroing for years now, and sometimes it still overwhelms me lol
