Mage drinking

In lib cleave grps i basically use a mana bar per pull. 100 Water used so far as a disc P, far less so with a mana totem present.

any 1 with mana spend too much time drinking. 1300 mana drink compared to 3-4k mana too small. making casters and healers in dungeons lag behind. and not only in dungeons. at bgs as well

You mean it’s trolling to say use pots instead of mana drinking?

You think only 5% of the playerbase are able to do AoE?.. no theres a reason why every SM group demands 3 mages. And its because its consistent in results.

I guess he was talking about outstide pexing.
In the 5-25 range mage were able to aoe farm up to 12 yellow mobs.

With self heal removed they now have the regen process of a vanilla war if they dont early go for their lvl 40 runes.

Yeah, they demand Mages for a leveling part of the game (within a dungeon, with a group) that is 1% of a players in-game time during a phase. Good thing Mages got to 40 fast so they can start drinking before Gnomeregan ^^

A melee cleave wouldnt be far behind AoEing Mages in SM with the right comp, with almost no downtime. Meanwhile, here 3 ā€œimbaā€ Mages are killing 8 mobs then drinking for 2 min.

I’ve submitted a response to this on the US forums. where I suggested that mana be like the orbs Monks get after making a kill in retail… This would keep the flow of the game going, instead of having to wait on players that have to drink water, milk or mana pots.

Killing mobs 1 by 1 still deplete all your mana. Basically mages has to do AOE or they have to drink water every 2 or 3 mobs, which is so boring and inefficient. Try to fill 4k mana every 3 mobs… Using one fireball and then the rest with wands… ok so you kill a mob every 2 or 3 minutes, right?

Is not like druids that can insta kill mobs and does not spent mana, or rogues with 900 damage mutilates.

This is SOD, no classic. Are you blind?

The CDs on melee cleave comps is 2 minutes… and also 2mins per round, sure if ur using level 1 food. Lol

Mage is a all in class, thars just what it does huge burst at huge mana consumption.

Pick a different class if you dont like that lol

I thought this sounded interesting so I tried this out on various mobs at 25 level, using my strongest spells and my cast rotation ended up something like this:-

Spellcast-Spellcast-Wand-Wand-Wand-Wand-Wand-Wand-Wand-Wand-Wand (thats 9 casts on average).

I lost 50%-80% health to the mob, had to eat after every fight, could’t kill casters. Think I will stick to drinking, despite it’s major downtime issues.

Hahaha that guy Junglebeard has no idea what he is talking about.

Was pretty easy to predict for anybody who acually leveled one Mage, little less two.

Not really, I did a melee comp on Golemagg release, Shaman, Warrior x Priest and Rogue, pulled infront most groups short of caster groups exploiting/using the bug with raids.

With Spirit Tap on the Priest we could chain pull our way through complete dungeons up to BRD. Close to 0 downtime.

Ive also leved Magex4 + 1 Priest (Fresh).

Both groups hit the 5 reset wall (single dungeon only). Time between them was neglectable. Similar XP/hour.

Why? Because even tho it looks cool to kill 10-15 mobs at the time, the gathering, stacking and recovery after still takes time, as to killing 1-2 on a endless string without stop.

In terms of drinking, with manapools over 4K, and the best drink at 1900 mana/30 sec, a whole min is spent drinking regardless of if you killed 1 or 5 mobs. Like said, with other classes getting streamlined grinding boosts, a improvement of just sitting and watching a character drink for 1 min is little to ask. Its not THERE that the magic happens anyway, which people feel is ā€œimbaā€ (like Mage cant be rolled by anybody).

In Classic with less int and weaknesses amongst most classes it made sence. Now? Not so much, I discover nothing sitting waiting for a ambush.

With starsurge now becoming the new (laughably underpowered) big dmg spell for druids, mana issues is back on the table.

Mage

  • Conjure Water (Rank 5) will now conjure a full stack of 20 with each cast (was 2).
    • Developers’ notes: The tooltip will still indicate that only 2 are conjured. We hope to adjust the tooltip in the future

Semi-win?
