With the recent change to Ice Lance, our dmg is now pretty darn good. Squishiness aside, I would like to adress mage healers in PvP.
While in PvE mage healers are amazing, in PvP it’s a different story. Problem is we don’t really have any instant heals like the other healers do and we have to stand still and cast, which is problematic.
Solo healing STV event is just griefing your team.
We have Chronostatic Preservation - pretty good single target heal, but that’s not enough to keep your whole team alive.
Mass regen is good, but we need to be able to do damage. And with arcane spell being only 30 yards, we esentially have to move in front of our team to deal dmg which is a suicide, we need to be able to stand far back.
So AOE healing isn’t happening because we can’t really charge in and do dmg to utilize mass regen.
Mass regen on it’s own is laughable healing.
Couple changes that would help us:
- Increase range of arcane spells to 40 yards
- Mass regen ticks instantly (like Penance)
- Arcane Barrage has 40% chance to proc Arcane Missiles
- Increase the healing of Mass regen
- Change Temporal Anomaly to AOE shield on party, not a moving orb that gives 1500 shield
Sure, in BGs you can hide behind a tree and single target someone, but unless there is a priest or druid on your team to actually carry heal, you yourself won’t do much.
And you can especially see the limits of our healing design in STV.
Or let us heal with frost spells

Why every time you guys have to overkill it? In classic max range should be 36 yards or we will have boomies phase 1 were they just starsurge from Narnia but now it will be arcane barrage.
Heals , mobility ,shields ,iceblock and 40y range is a bit too much.

I don’t think they will ever make the necessary changes to make mage healer a thing in PvP.
Some of the changes you suggested would help for sure but then you would essentially boost mage healer power in PvE at the same time.
The problem with Temporal Anomaly is that you kinda want a magic dispel.
Even if they turn it into an instant, hefty party shield you have to consider you give up the ability to dispel magic by taking Temporal Anomaly and the other benefits that come from Advanced Warding.
If you don’t have magic dispel you suddenly can’t dispel even the most basic CC. Sadly this spell has a lot going against it.
What my suggestion would be is remove the need for temporal beacon to be present for Rewind Time to work. It would make it a decent/strong Oh ! cooldown and this suggestion I think is fair seeing that you have to give up Displacement to take Rewind Time.
In the end the issues with arcane healing in PvP are many, the fact that you rely on a single spell school on such a flimsy frame is always going to be a problem.
