I understand mage healing is a bit too strong, but this is the biggest nerf I’ve ever seen from one patch to another in any WOW iteration.
Mass Regen 6sec cd → 15 sec cd
Chronomatic healing 80% of damage done → 70% of damage done
Enlightenment rune has to be replaced with Regeneration rune (another -10%)
If you don’t have two-set Tier 1 and six-set Tier 2 bonuses; you can’t even have beacons on more than five people, ever.
Having to repeatedly, actively channel a single target HoT for 3 seconds to reduce Mass Regen CD is ridiculous. Mage healing is going to worse than Shadow Priest’s. Only viable in 5-man dungeons.
If I’m not mistaken casting Arcane Blast will reduce the cd of Mass regen too.
I don’t get why they waited so long to tackle how mage heals.
I’ve played mage healer since MC, to be frank it felt to me bonkers even then when there was no T2 bonus how strong the raid healing felt.
They just let this go on for so long, this literally became the identity of the mage healer. And now close to the end they wake up and do this ridiculous stuff…
I’d have to say from all the classes I played in SoD mage felt the best, especially healer. There were so many things you could do with the runes - either pick runes to up the healing or up the damage.
Yes there was an ideal spec for most or some situations but it was very flexible. You could even heal as frost!
Now they took all that and made it worse, just like every other class where you barely have runes to pick from(resto shaman hello!).
The devs, probably: " we found some players having fun in our game and we fixed it"
(I’m not against the nerfs either btw, like many other mages. But not stupid changes like the ones coming, start reducing numbers before you change how the spec plays drastically)
So overall a 50-60% nerf to our healing
i mean mage heal was beyond busted , ruined healing for every other class for so much phase.

Yeah, but with theese nerfs they will be at the bottom. How many raids do you know will funnel 4-6 set parts for them poor mage healers to make them viable?
Most will play as dps if theese changes go live
Yeah -60% to overall healing sounds accurate. I’d rather they just kept mass regen cd and reduced the chronomatic healing % even more. Channeling Regeneration for 3 sec for 600ish ticks is ridiculous. The only time you would do this is with Netherwind 4-set barrage proc. In 3 seconds you could cast 2x Chronostatic Preservation that each heals for twice as much.
Standard over correction … 20% would have worked better
I’m sure the numbers will not be that big after a week or so, but the nerfs are needed just cuz i feel usless as a priest healer when there is a mage healer in a raid.
