I would chose priest,it will be wanted in raids, pvp also works. Can always also switch to healer if you feel like it

It depends what you want to do but Priests will always be in demand for raids as either healing or shadow you can also join some niche set ups in arena as shadow but will Find it easier finding a team as disc.

Mage is always a good choice as they are alright in PvE and needed for AI and food table and in PvP they are amazing as Frost and have quite a few team set ups you can join in 2v2 and 3v3

I would go Mage personally as they are more fun in PvP as you have a lot of CDs and spells to escape when trained whereas with priest your pretty much going to be a punching bag that will be focused on.

Are you on the beta stress test? You can make a level 70 of each and play some battlegrounds or arenas and get a feel for each class – then make your decision!

The same is true for mages.

Unless the guild is running a complete cheese-comp (which 95% of guilds don’t do) Mage is a more-than-solid dps.
As for PvP, well, Mage is S-Tier as always.

Depends what your focus is pve shadow priest as you get mana for your party which will be in high demand the only downside is later phases you might get pressured to heal if there is healer drop off there will also be more mages than shadow priests end game.

PvP mage is the best unless ur doing shadowplay with friends

There’s something about Shadow Priest that draws me to the spec… I do not feel this “draw” at all when playing Mage. Priest starts off slow and a bit frustrating without a good wand, but as you level it picks up. It’s steady and consistent, with little down time if you’re systematic and use as much spirit gear as you can. If you can get past the initial more boring levels, it will grow on you. My Spriest is lvl 50 now and waiting for pre-patch to get her Vampiric Touch

That been said, both classes are very solid choices IMO. Mage has more gold-making potential but Spriest is more versatile as it can heal if needed.

Go Mage, Most raids need one Shadow Priest and that will be the raid leaders friend and every other priest will be forced into healing.

Wouldnt worry to much about over supply of mages as some people think. On my server lots of folks have rerolled due to meta and I even see guilds particilarly looking for mages in world chat. Im gonna keep maining mage in TBC. After all its a caster class.

I never thought id ever agree with Dottie, but there you go:)

So much truth in that statement. It also applies to Boomies, Enh Shaman, Ele Shaman, Ret pal and Arms warrior imo.

Shadoweave is nice for PvE but in PvP it’s not ideal you need to start getting sta and resilience gear asap as you’ll be face tanking a lot of melee classes.

I played Shadow for a short period back in TBC I liked the rotation in PvE but in PvP I would get destroyed in my PvE gear until I managed to replace it with Gladiator gear which took some time initially.

I played a mage in TBC (and a bit in Wrath, but did most of my progression raiding there as a paladin healer) and it was fine. You are probably third best DPS (second in tier 5) until blinged out melee late in the expansion. If you only care about PvE though you you will spend a lot of TBC at least looking jealously at Warlocks beating you on the meters. That was my overriding memory - and this time you can’t go through the expansion thinking “maybe Blizzard will make us top next patch”. If topping meters is what you want reroll now rather than endlessly putting it off. But yeah, mage gameplay is great, its an excellent PvP class and you have the ability to top meters if you are just better than everyone else.

I’m going priest this time, but expect to end up healing. But I guess we’ll see what the demand for Shadowpriests is. Double shadow is potentially excessive in a super optimised comp - but its not entirely unheard of. Especially once content is on farm, as plenty of classes (for example Arcane Mages) can pop with extra mana. Swapping out a second healing priest for a second shadow once you are overgearing content is after all a relatively easy swap.

Hexx don’t mind not topping meters. Just want a chill playstyle for PvE and ability to stand my ground in PvP.

Hexx was mage in parts of TBC and a lot in WotLK, which was fun. But havin’ become a medicine man as of late, da priest has peaked my interest.

Da dilemma remains… Hexx has a mere 4 days to decide!

Healing in MMOs is a calling, especially in PvP.
