Mage performance

how come mages on both fire and frost are so weak that i keep dieing on 3 mob pulls can you all just buff the aoe for them

Kite stuff.

You mean, when questing, in the world? Not in instances?

Mage does require a bit of thought to play, and Fire can get itself into trouble if it gets too arrogant, but we Mages do not die when questing; it’s against our religion. :stuck_out_tongue:

For a start, you have Mirror Images and Invisibility for a reason. You shouldn’t need them when questing, but if you do, and you die without using them, that’s on you.

Now, the reason you shouldn’t need them is that, as Icefall said, you should be kiting - moving around a lot so that melee mobs don’t catch up to you. If your problem is casters, you should be interrupting them with Counterspell. But mostly you will be dealing with melee mobs. As Frost, you have endless tools to slow and stop melee mobs. Fire and Arcane have fewer tools for kiting, but all Mages have Blink/Shimmer.

You can’t play a Mage like a Plate class. You can’t just stand there and facetank mobs. Mages are squishy clothies - they fold and collapse hand-to-hand against melee. You should never be letting melee get that close in the first place.

I don’t know what level your Mage is, but I can tall you that Frozen Orb + any Freeze + Comet Storm + Ice Lance spam does a TON of AoE damage against small packs, and Fire has even better AoE … but less kiting capacity, which is why Fire can get into trouble if it gets too greedy. :stuck_out_tongue:

maybe it just gear issue , becouse that was my biggest problem the damage 2 elites took me 5 minutes of kiting to kill

Yeah, low gear doesn’t help, and there are a few pockets of levels where you can end up undergeared, especialty betwen expansions.
