Just returned after a while and can’t find any way to make the skinning knife invisible. The interface insists I now have to equip the thing and in doing it makes my staff invisible. In the end I destroyed the skinning knife. So how do I make the knife invisible or do I have to give up skinning if I want to see my staff. The knife does not appear in the character window only the staff so I can’t transmog it.
All help appreciated.
PS I assume there is a simple button somewhere to revert the interface to the old style.
Due to the new profession systems and equipping tools in the Profession Journal
You will need to visit an NPC in the Dragon Isles to set your profession tool visibility
There are options:
‘Hide when entering combat’
‘Hide all of the time’
etc.
I don’t think we can fix it at the mo at any ‘local NPC’
(Maybe that is just an oversight, you shouldn’t have to go there to fix it forever)
Right clicking on the icon worked. Thanks. Nightmare really cus the same thing happens with the mining pick. Scratching my head as to why you would want to be seen carrying around a mining pick. Interestingly I do not have the skinning knife equipped but it kept saying I needed to equip the mining pick on this other character. So I equipped the mining pick then did as you say, relogged and no further notification. Seems to just ignore I haven’t equipped the skinning knife… and yet I can skin animals.
Just gotta work out now how to move the chat pane so it doesn’t obscure the Battle Pet icons. This interface is a mess… I assume they are not leaving it like this. Everything is all over the top of other stuff.
OK It just got worse. I portal back to Org and the mining pick is visible. This time there is no buff and there is no mining pick on that interface. How do I get rid of this. It looks stupid.
I have a skinning knife and mining pick… This is what is happening
First the annoying alert by the bags that blocks everything and the red x in the corner doesn’t cancel anything. So I do as it says and right click the knife, which I never had to do anything before than have in my bag. It says shift and click and place in that pane. Trouble is the pane fills the screen in window mode and I can’t see the bag. Can’t click the knife… can’t even see it.
OK I close pane and double click the knife. It vanishes as does my mage staff. Now I have this dreadful skinning knife.
I then click the buff and it goes. Sadly all that does is show a silly mining pick and no mage staff.
I click the mining pick in my bag and the thing vanishes.
It returns when I portal to Org and there is now nothing to click. EXCEPT the skinning knife is now back in the bag. I click that and the mining pick vanishes but the knife is back. Now I have a buff for something like well dress skinner and not a knife. I click that and the knife has finally gone.
Seriously. Been playing this game since 2008 and I just have to question some times do these things actually get tested.
I have been playing Battle Pets this afternoon and the Chat Pane blocks the Battle Pet icons. Where you would normally type in a message completely obscures the Pet Battle action icons. I know I play on window mode but how difficult would it have been to auto size stuff so it doen’t overlap. Again if this had been tested it wouldn’t have happened.
that is a wierd bug noting like that has never happend to me. i normaly not use the regular skinning knife or minieing pick i normaly use the army knife it has all tools in 1 …

I never use to equip them but the new interface insisted I did so or it left this big alert notice all over my bags which you cannot cancel. Thing is I couldn’t equip them cus the pane that had the box in the top right corner fully filled my screen. So I closed the pane and double clicked the skinning knife and then the same thing happened with the mining pick. So now when I teleport anywhere, or mine or do any skinning my mage staff vanishes and I am left with this hulking great pick or knife hanging around my waist. There is a buff that comes up but I have to cancel them to get my staff back. The knife or pick does not appear in the character screen.
This is Classic mining by the way.
I will have to search through the options and see if there is anything I can do. Neither the knife nor pick are now in my bag nor on that interface. So I can’t check their status. My other option is to dump professions cus who knows what other nonsense is likely to occur if I try anything else.
Never mind… last night I was in Ashenvale and this bear attacked me as I mined and all I had in my hand was a mining pick. Bonkers.
