heyo looking for help deciding what mage spec to play in endgame, i see fire is currently the better spec “pro people log wise”? is frost / arcane just not as viable? whats peoples opinions please 
It all depends on what your goal is.
If you’re not going for keys over M+20, or for ranked PvP above 2000 rating, you can make basically every spec work.
Play what you enjoy - the state of balance changes every patch anyway.

I found Frost was most effective in PuGs, but doesnt have the massive damage fire can have in a good group
I’ve always played fire mage. With the latest builds you just have to make sure your talents focus on damage and not utility. Forget helping others just help yourself.

Arcane is for nerds and Fire is the meme spec, even if it is strong atm.
All three specs are viable right now. Fire is favored because if your group works around your combustion cooldown and pulls massive amounts you will push out higher numbers than with the other two.
Fire is not too pug friendly though, as low pull counts severely reduce your damage output. Frost is a safer bet there as your damage profile is more consistent.
Arcane suffers from having a setup time, and mistakes in your rotation punishes you very harshly during your burst phase, but in general all three mage specs can get screwed over by a tank not knowing to not drag mobs out of Blizzard/frozen orb/flame patch.
Fire for coordinated groups, Frost in case of pugs or if you do not like Fire gameplay, and Arcane if you like quantum physics level rotation complexity/like to play a spec dubbed as a meme.

They’re all viable except arcane in M+.
Arcane however is best in raids.
Arcane however will cause your brain to explode.
I recommend frost or fire.
