i see everyone say mage will be bad in DF
so i want ask is there any spec betweeb arcane or frost is good in pve?
i dont want to waste time in leveling mage and find it bad at the end
aim to do high keys in DF

they are all garbage. anyone posting below otherwise has probably seen a mage doing 1 double bl pi 4.5k intellect pve trinket burst and assume its good, when everymage is deadlast in dps and suck in pvp in every scenario.
only class that might be doing worse is evoker
Only playable is Arcane. Mage Talent Trees in DF are complete dog. Patched together by incompetent random Californian people who have never played RPGs.

frost has been looking fairly strong in m+ and raid testing from my own experience, but has received zero tuning so far. it’s entirely possible that blizzard does the same thing they did in shadowlands beta, which means panic nerfing it to the ground so hard it won’t be playable before the 10.1 patch. no clue about arcane, but i have heard it’s decent numbers wise.
fire is going to be your safest bet, because it’s blizzard favourite mage spec by a mile. it’s also the spec with the best talent tree currently.

You honestly can’t tell whats going to be good for high keys yet because there’s so much tuning to be done, as well as spec changes all over. That being said mage still has timewarp and very strong defensives so it has a good chance of being wanted. If tanks are having a hard time with trash then frost is always wanted but I don’t imagine that will happen again like it did in early SL.
Whatever they will be doing casting Frostbolt or Fireball will still feel absolutely TERRIBAD!
nah, arcane got nerfed already, now nothing is playable
I guess I play Priest, Shaman or Lock then. Atleast I have proper CC. And damage.
sp is nice, u don’t have insane dmg or tankiness, but between psyfiend and mindgames u can have nice pressure, it has voidshift on normal talent tree too, and VE cd is very short, lock is probably straight out stronger, but sp is just more fun, ive had a blast playing it, and a very good winratio at 1.8cr on soloshuffle on beta, i haven’t touched my warlock, ive seen plenty warlocks and they are incredibly strong, destro was also drecently buffed, which the only interesting spec for me if i play lock, because of adouken, drakedog, kenwood, kobrak etc, there is only destro in my mind,
many games where i playd SP i felt like enemies had a hard time tunnelling me, and if they tunnel my 2nd dps i can ramp up my dmg, cast shield + renew to help my healer, and i have many GO with psyfiend and mindgames, worst ccase i swap hp with their target, and even then, ive seen people still not going me because they don’t wanna chase me, i mean, i can literally jump around and cast only dots stun/silence leap my healer to me if necessary, its just overall more fun and has a more creative gameplay in my head.
Isn’t DF Spriest in PvP about big Mindblast hits with Mindspike build up? Im glad The Voidform is now optional. 45 sec Damnation isn’t bad either.
yeah i play voidform, call me dumb, mindspike build prob better, i sticked to shadowy apparitions with voidform
