Mage specs

I have a level 32 mage that I thought it would be fun to level to 50 to have a different ranged class to my half dozen SPs.
Yes, I’ve looked at IcyVeins and the Mage forums here but I’m not looking to do dungeons or raids or any high level content and just want to have fun questing my way to 50 so obviously I posted in General
Which spec would be the easiest/most fun to play? And is there any spec that is both?

Arcane and just spam arcane missiles, pew pew pew pew pew (i have no clue though, i just love the arcane missiles )

From what I know arcane explosion is an absolute beast at lower levels.

Arcane is my favourite mage spec since I play the class.

I’ve been enjoying frost the most, but the fact that the flurry proc doesn’t unlock till past level 30 does hurt it a bit, so if you want a more smooth, easy experience go arcane, but frost is awesome too.
I never tried fire because fire is a boring aesthetic.

Arcane. The other 2 specs can feel very sluggish for questing as it’s their procs that deal damage (FoF/Flurry for Frost, converting Heating Up for Fire). As Arcane you can be a little more mindless

Leveled 1 arcane mage this prepatch so far, was so fun and fast i havent even considered respecing

I read that Frost is good to level with, since it allows you to kite mobs and not have to worry so much about getting killed. The other specs are more vulnerable.

you should try arcane some time, it has same properties but madly stronger in leveling

I’m not worried about dying a lot … the SP I’m levelling died all the time because many of the useful spells that would keep her alive didn’t appear until much later.

I must admit I thought arcane sounded fun and was top of my list but IcyVeins were quite snooty about it (though I can’t find their comparison page now). I have a few days to think it over until my latest SP is 50 so any further thoughts/opinions are welcome

Arcane is very good at moment, and frost has always been great (still is) since you practically perma slow everything and root.

Arcane at the moment though is pretty FOTM for leveling. Leveling mine currently

I’m levelling in frost at the moment (20 I think) and it’s super easy as long as I watch what I’m pulling. I might try arcane though, sounds like it could be fun. I haven’t played fire for years, levelled as fire on a long deleted mage (RIP Kildris the dwarf).

This is the mage, she’s level 20 or 21 at the moment.

edit - she’s 23, the hallows end quests netted her quite a lot of xp.

Arcane is nice for pvp too since you can snipe people with an invisible attack.

Just levelled an arcane mage, and have to say it’s good fun. Frost is just as good though

frost and arcane are relatively similar in difficulty.

fire is the hardest one.

For leveling however, NOTHING comes close to arcane. It’s probably one of the most broken specs in all classes for leveling.
