I just wanted to share a few tips that made this challenge (not a lot) but maybe a
bit easier, to have a decent dps uptime during last phase!
I would recommend to use Freezing Rain over Splitting Ice and Incanter’s Ward over Rune of Power. With the amount of instant Blizzards you can spam in last phase, the Frozen Orb CD is most likely gone in 4-5 seconds because of all the shadow adds. This resulted with massive Blizzard + Frozen Orb spam on the boss along with unlimited FoF procs.
This way you never had to stand still and let the mobs + Karem get close to, just spamming that Ice Lance. And a high dmg done uptime on the boss. With this strategy the hands are no problem either HP wise. Have Time Warp + Icy Veins and your Int Pot ready also!
Side Note: When last phase begins I began a poly on Karem to keep him away from the dmg from Blizzard and Frozen Orb, as we know if he dies the boss Berserks and does 500% increase damage done. Then just let him get slowed by your Orb / Blizz and whenever he is outside your cleave, Poly again.
Also don’t forget to lose Lonely winter and swap it for the elemental! If you send it to the rune in P2, he used to break it, meaning you didn’t have to stand in it as a mage. Didn’t try this 1 yet, but still remember from Legion
Now this is the kind of thread there should’ve been more of in response to the mage tower!
I got my transmog via the fire one which is super easy. I mean you basically don’t have to do anything, you just run in and delete it. Just use the raid talents and remember to nova then AE the adds that’ll heal the Imp Mother.
The only advice I can offer is that if you’ve played BfA, the cloak and necklaces are overbudgeted, so equip them - they give a little boost.
Feral Druid was a lot trickier, but similar to Frost Mages picking Freezing Rain, you have to pick Predator - otherwise you get starved of energy (just as the mage gets all locked up in cooldowns and can’t do anything)
Just to let you know, I completed it on my frost mage in about 5 attempts, so my strategy still works The only reasons I wiped, is the dps race though. I didn’t know (or I forgot) that if you kill the brother you have to kite, the other one gains a enrage and shadowbolts you to death.
This 2 advices for frost mage are still incredibly important:
Swap from lonely winter to elemental and send him to the rune. I just keybinded the ‘move to’ button and it took maybe half a second to do so when I located the area.
The most important one to counter the dps race is as Gombaa mentioned, take Freezing rain. This is essential!
One of the easier challanges if you ask me. The other being fire. This one took me 2 attempts actually. I don’t know what they did on the mage, but I actually found it too easy. The adds died within 1 flamestrike, and on my warrior (can’t complete it there), it takes ages to kill the adds.
@Ishayo
Cheers man! I think its better if we all work together with strategies and tips!
I also noticed that this build in my OP was quite the opposite comparing the guides on Icy Viens and Wowhead etc. They recommend Splitting Ice or Commet Storm, which I found little or close to 0 use for in here.
My point is, try work out a build that works for YOU and not follow guides into every single detail
@Pihakecsmrti
Ye the fire one looked a bit easier. Glad to know the strat you mentioned also still works! I also noticed on the fire boss the imps who heal the boss died from 2 AE
