What tilts me most is that there is no chance to do it without some gear. If you have some random, or optimized for content you liked (PvP) you cannot do Mage Tower.
That’s absolutely horrible.
You could say that people could farm up completely different gear. And sure. Maybe. But it lasts only two weeks so that’s unreasonable demand.
Not being able to do enough damage, despite doing rotation and mechanics correctly, isn’t skill issue.
The ‘required’ gear is mostly just stuff with a bunch of sockets, you can do chromie time TBC and get socketed gear for days or run things like SoO for sockets on a bunch of slots. Both of those also give you gear at the correct item level for optimal enchants. The gear you get from those runs doesn’t even matter in terms of stats as long as you get sockets for more main stat.
Nah, gotta disagree with you, i did it with mix of shadowlands pvp gear and korthia gear and got the very bad recolor armor for monk. If i had the optimized gear it would have been faster, i’ve seen people who are struggling hard on windwalker monk by having optimized gear eventually just comes down to how you play it.
ok and how many classes you did? because not every class is FINE if you lock borrowed power from them so you know
before you spit out this …
ME ME ME just think about other people
Yesterday someone said in /s he spent over 200k gold on gear/gems/enchants and it didn’t have any impact. I also don’t think my gear mattered at all, I used my normal gear with bfa and legion legendaries and HoA but results would’ve been same probably with shadowlands greens.
Yes, I’m aware that the one I did is one of the easier challenges.
First mage tower was pretty hard without TOP gear, some people on some challenges get 200-300+ pulls to do all ideal. Many even wasn’t close to last phase - this is how it was. Most of rewards were received when it was end of Legion with overgear.
WW mage tower is the easiest one, i haven’t completed it cause I did like 2 tries and I didn’t remember anything from it, and forgot I could cleave the worm before killing bloodtotem and still took the worm from full to 20% while enraged before dying, that with horrible star gear and no consumables.
The rest of the challenge monk trivialze it.
Paralyze and Leg Sweep the scream or Karma it.
Eggs are non problems.
Jade light the totem.
You couldn’t even overgear the priest challenge like others. The allies don’t benefit from any gear you obtain. The first part was the hard part of it. Now they just get blown up by the mages, which are overtuned as hell.
That is TRUE but you had fair chance to kill it because you had your TOOLKIT and no one in blizzard locked you from using your abilities…
and another thing is mage tower in legion gave you unique weapon TMOG
mage tower as TIMEWALKING is giving you recolored SET
and it’s not even pretty like the only one cool is warlock and warrior
10% kekw. Maybe 2-3 times.
I know there are certain specs with the OP BiS Mage Tower gear, double crusader enchants, 24 sockets, full bis enchants, full consumables, can pull on Agatha over 1200-1300 dps. Maybe even more.
On this character I am posting, I do 550-600 dps while playing to the max, respecting the mechanics, etc.
On the fury warrior I do average 650 per try.
Now let that sink in. Someone doing double or triple your damage. Breakes her shield twice as fast. Can cleave ads twice as fast. Therefore can heal off kills twice as much. Pushes the phases twice as fast. Overall challenge is 3-4x as easy.
That’s not balanced.
I feel that hp values are over the top. I could finish the affli one but thats because he has no hard enrage.
The 2nd stage took me like 10 minutes while he was hitting me with shadowbolts for third of my hp. I used the normal gear I have. No consumes either.
The arms warrior one was impossible since there is an enrage mechanic by filling the entire room with that goo and you just can’t even get close to killing the demon without some sort of abuse.
Another episode of pulling numbers out of your butt?
No one took that many tries. I did a lot of those with nighthold gear (30 ilvl below what it was tuned for) and took less than 10 attempts for most.
