Can some kind person confirm how the mage tower scaling works please?
i.e. does it scale to a set point, or does it scale by a set factor?
I believe it’s the former, and therefore the difficulty won’t change with 11.1 gearing, etc.
I did all the scenarios in Legion, on most if not all classes, but I’d like to do them again to get the book mount, and I’m wondering if it will be easier next month. It seems more brutal than I remember, but to be honest I haven’t refreshed myself on all the mechanics yet.
It sets your gear above a specific ilvl to that ilvl, as well as your character level. It won’t get easier.
Thanks.
I guess at least this time around I only need one alt per scenario, and I can cherry pick that alt from the eligible specs/classes.
The only thing is it doesn’t account for your talents so max level is MUCH easier than not.

It always scales you to level 45 and all your items to ilvl 120. Some more powerful enchants - like the current TWW enchants - are also scaled down.
Doing it at level 80 with all talents is pretty much required.
The fights can be very challenging depending on what you pick but there is a lot of room for failure if you have enough power provided by your gear.
All special effects like: “your attacks have a chance to do X damage” seem to have been nerfed to the ground. All you need are raw stats, your primary stat the most. - Good to know for trinkets.
Sockets are amazing to have on your gear. Buying gear on AH can be very expensive. You’re gonna pay absolute fortune for an item with only one socket.
Instead, I recommend doing a round of TBC raids and heroic dungeons - they have the highest amount of sockets per item and are ilvl 140+ so they are over the 120 you’ll have in the Tower.
Take advantage of unique gems from different expansions.
Cubic Blasphemia is scaled down to +18 primary stat.
Saber’s Eye (+19), Kraken’s Eye (+19), Leviathan’s Eye (+23) are not scaled down.
Technically, you could also use the Illimited Diamond from DF but it seems nobody is making this gem anymore.
Here is my Druid as an example of what it might look like: https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-gb/character/eu/azjolnerub/trn/
I haven’t done the Mage Tower with him yet but the gear is ready.
Good luck out there!

Thanks Jdouci, I appreciate that. I got rid of loads of that gear over the years when I’ve been mount farming
I’ve got 80’s of every class, so I plan to use the specs I found easiest back in Legion.
I’ll definitely go for the Felbear skin though. In Legion I really struggled with the Guardian Druid scenario as I’d mainly played resto and never used the guardian spec much, but I really wanted the white grizzlemaw, so I kept going and got there eventually.
