Mage Tower

I did the shadow one first night with s2m, never actually got to see the fight beyond the first phase because of that. Was dumb that back then if you finished it you couldn’t go back in on the same char.

The most painful part was that you had to farm the special currency to enter the tower too haha.

The removal of that and the time constraint is what made me do all the 7 challenges eventually, much more enjoyable when you can do it whenever .

Didn’t even come close to anything during legion.

After TWW pre-patch, Mage Tower’s scaling is still unfair, some of them doable if you put high-effort in yours attempts (I already explained in other similar post about gear and etc.) but with that scaling its just not worth time and effort now.

Can only say from my experience but TWW prepatch is not how the ones I’ve looked at since have felt at all. That was a unique period of 3-4 weeks where they were 40-60% harder than they had been throughout DF.

Now they feel easier than they did in DF.

not everyone is a top end player like you and you keep forgetting that and assuming its easy for all.

I’m not considering my own ability, I’m comparing it to different versions of the same challenge.

Every time people say something with the scaling changed I go do it again to see what’s up. The main indicator for difficulty at least for the SP challenge is how low I can get raest on first burn phase. TWW prepatch I was struggling to get him below 80, TWW release I got him to 56 no consumables. DF it was around 60, and SL 65~ with lust.

Whether it’s easy or hard for me doesn’t matter, what matters is if it’s easier or harder than a previous version.

I just tried again.

I’d been doing it with un enchanted gear (that’s right, I don’t enchant my gear :sunglasses:) except for the armor kit.

So I only had 502 agility. I got some enchants, used a rune and I had 647 agility and won 1st time, I even forgot to use pot and drums on Kruul. It was comparable to DF, so I was wrong to say it was way easier in DF.

OP make sure you have enchants on your gear!

There are some easy acquirable trinket, that back in SL were scaling really good in those challenges.

I remember:
[Dragonspine Trophy] - From Gruul’s Lair TBC, that trinket despite being low item level had an insane uptime and stat inside the challenge.

[Ravaged Seed Pod] - From 1st boss of Emeral Nightmare - Lot of damage, on use.

[Cyclotronic Blast] - Mechagon Isle trinket, with the Cyclotronic Blast red gem. Longer to acquire than the others if you do not have the rep.

[Unblinking Gaze of Sethe] - Shadow Lord Iskar form Hellfire Citadel - It’s an intellect trinket but had an insanely high damage proc.

Those are the first that come to mind, and that i used in some challenges, i don’t know how they will do now tho because scaling may have changed them.

Also remember that trinket won’t make the boss automatically fall over, they are just a plus to make the fight last slightly less.

Thanks. I plan to play my druid a little more just to get some muscle memory on it’s spells/abilities etc as I really only fly to and from the AH on it lol. I’ll also get some gear as I do that.

The main thing now is I know it can’t be obtained at any point and not just during the Legion patch, so no pressure.

For me - nothing changes, but i am level 70, i don’t have TWW.
Based on HP and stats - nothing changes, i still have 11k HP as Mage and very low % of secondary stats.
I think this is the case, that for lvl 80 scaling is more beneficial.

That’s quite possible. I can tell you there was a substantial difference between trying it in TWW prepatch and then doing it actually in TWW at max level.
