I just decided to play my mage again and o boy … I had 2 matches in a row with 2 hunters in the same lobby. i dont get why they cant balance the game so that i can play my frost mage.I stopped playing mage for the exact reason.Half an hour queue just to lose because of blizzards incompetence to balance hunter vs mages.I dont see why im supposed to sit in a huge queue just to get s**t on by this dumb class.

They’ve always been a bit of a counter, but right now it’s definetly worse than normal
i think hunter is a counter vs alot of squishies rn

They also seem a bit overtuned atm. Though demo locks and retri might be a fair match?
I think a good hunter and healer clocks both a ret and demo in 2v2 anyway thanks to volley allowing huge cleave and spread of explosive shot and you can just cc ret with scatter trap whenever he runs at you with freedom

Could play affli with druid or mw if really wants to play lock in 2s i guess, atleast its something. Anything else and better wish the heal comes with brain to help you setup kills cos they aint going to stand on middle and wait that destro or demo keep casting on them. Something ive found out why not play the specs in 2s, is not exactly what i call fun comp to chase ppl run around pillar for 8min if healer dont help

Frost might not be the best pick right now. Instead, you could play fire and do DH-level damage with the ability to global enemies during combustion.
arcane disc or even frost disc way better than fire if 2s, and shuffle i guess arcane or frost, 3s frost,lock,druid
Literally every top Lock plays Demo in 2s. I wanted to get my 1800 mog today and we got 4 Demo/R Sham in a row at 2 k mmr. We won 1 as Ele/R Druid. That win only happened because they were throwing. R Shaman was running in the open in the Black Rook Hold arena so I could maintain Flame Shocks and cleave them. He went oom and we still barely killed Demo.
Other games I was heavily outdamaged and R Sham was just hugging pillar. The most frustrating part is you constantly have to destroy something Obelisk, Observer, Healing Tide, Grounding while you get spammed with CC. There is no spec on the game who can stop this spam. It also takes no damage and even if you manage to CC him he will just stun you with pet. With the rework interrupting or ccing Tyrant is not an option. Demo is truely nasty. From what I’ve heard it has some really hard counters. Warriors and Fisteavers are these I know but other than that Demo is a menace. I met Merce playing it for example.
Regarding Frost Mage it’s probably the weakest out of 3 Mage specs. Arcane is the one that maintains old Mage gameplay. I mean winning with CC but it’s way harder than two other specs and Fire is just a glass cannon pumping some sick damage. Hunter vs Mage was always brutal especially MM. It will be your hard counter but hey. You don’t meet them every lobby. They aren’t that popular now.
hunter is super popular so you do meet them every lobby.Blizzard need to fix classes being destroyed like mage against hunters.its super annoying.I want to play a game thats somewhat fair where i can play the spec i want without getting countered like this.

Are they? I played some RSS on my Enha and met 1 or 2. I met more Mages for sure.
Also MM is not that nasty yet. It will be with 4 set. The main issue is the fact that MM deals pure physical damage. It absolutely destroys Cloth and Leather wearers but does poorly against Mail and Plate wearers so they buff it’s damage more and more. Solution is simple. Nerf MM damage but add an armor piercing mechanic
i know.bm is busted too.Frost mage is unplayable.Blizzard just fails frost mage the whole expansion
I mean it was very good with Destro and Demo last patch. This patch is rough as it’s set is average and it lost 10% Ice Lance bonus from last season.
The fact you’re forced into Glacial Spike makes Slick Ice build irrelevant and that’s preferred spec for it’s best comp from last season. And there is 0 chance you’d pick Frost Mage over Fire in RMX with sub or Assa or over Arcane if you play Outlaw.
