Mage, warlock, priest, hunter?

Hi ! I’m looking for a rdps class to level, and mayb make my new main, problem is, I don’t really know what to pick.
I only play PvE and mostly solo.

  • hunter , Mained one in legion, kinda liked it but was getting boring after a while.
  • warlock, never really leveld one, do like their Transmog options
  • mage, seems kinda hard without any armor or pets, but the portals are kinda handy, altough I dont think u use them a lot at max lvl, (atm my pally is my main, and don’t really travel a lot)
-priest, well… never leveld one either but they have 2 heal specs wich I probably never gonna use since I don’t like healing, the shadow spec does look cool tho, but don’t know how they are fun-wise …

What would u choose fun-wise ?

Cheers!

From that list? I’d go Warlock.

Well, warlock is one of the best solo-classes out there I think. Fun too, with deep class lore. Don’t underestimate the solo-ability of a disc priest though. They are a bit on the slow side, but their survivability is humongous!

Probably warlock.

And that’s from somebody whose main cloth class is a priest.

If you like the convenience of having a pet but getting bored of hunter, I would advise you to try the warlock.

Shadow priest mains may disagree with me but in my experience leveling as shadow is painful. Self healing is bad and they suck at kiting.

Mage is way more fun in my opinion, tons of slows and nice AoE damage. Handy portals as you pointed out, no need to check if your hearthstone is off cooldown.

And as opposed to the priest, both warlock and mage have 3 different dps specs. Since you don’t like healing anyway, most likely at least 1 of the 3 specs will be good in whatever content you wanna play.

Did you try out all 3 Hunter specs?

Lock is very nice… I love pet classes though

Warlock is easy for soloing content. They’re also fun to play, and switching between specs can give a very different feel to the game depending on your mood.

I was thinking about the same!

I made shadow priest but she, he, they are dead now. Gameplay is fun (for me) and as I always mention~ reminds me of Madness Sorcerer from SWTOR. Problem is that lore (shadow + light = nope), racial animations and lack of utility transportation turned me off eventually.

I am leveling a fire mage now. Made a generic human and kinda enjoy gameplay (but it was a pain pre-15). Gonna have fun with event+racial reputation and portals to every place I want :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Thanks for the answers, I will try a warlock  what spec would be best for m+ ? Not really pushing keys, just having a good time , btw not a big fan of dotting, so guess it will be demo or destro…

Up to you but I love Demo… it’s really good fun and easy to play.

I like both, but I lean towards demo. There’s something special about being surrounded by your big team of demons.

Shadowpriest is the only real option there. Hunters are for noobs, known fact. Warlocks are just there for summons. And mage, seriously?

Guess I am a 40 something noob that’s had this hunter for 13 years then

hunters and sp are boring as anything you could imagine … send pet in, shoot, loot. Cast dot, do some stuff, die of boredom. The only bonus to priest is you can go healer spec.
Lock specs are divergent enough to keep me entertained. demons, afflictions, lots of firey things.
mages are not quite as different, casting spells but no real dot spec. couple of insta casts etc. all 3, good damage.
Personally, lock would be my go to for difference in specs and thus more interest. If you like healing, priest (you can shadow if you come across something with high hp pool). if you like yawn dps with zero challenge, hunter. if you like hitting hard but being a bit light on health and defence, mage (portals are a huge benefit).

seeing as you’ve decided lock … afflict is my favourite, specially when you get the azurite trait for 50 ticks then life drain, cripes that hits hard. demon also good, specially when you get the summon random demon trait … having a succubus appear, just lovely. dest is my least favourite, I just find it a little repetitive. afflict>demon>dest.
For levelling, all are fine and hitty

You know you can resurrect at a spirit healer, right?

Made my warlock yesterday (void elf) so I’m lvl 27 now, but the rotation is at the moment kinda boring, summon dogs, shadow bolt , shadow bolt, shadow bolt, hand of gul dan, etc… will it be more fun at higher lvl? ty!

Everything is more fun at higher level. My lock is lvl 92, and I find her a lot of fun.

“best solo”, depends what you do. It’s so slow, it’s bad at solo farming quickly

Druid can Tank/dps/heal bouth melee and ranged dps :stuck_out_tongue:

If you define fun as reapplying your DoTs over and over again then Affliction is the spec for you.
In my opinion Affliction warlocks are really fun to play and in raids they’re just insane.
You can do good DPS in M+ but you need a bit of ’skills’. For me it was satisfying when I played my warlock and I was top DPS.

Destruction is ok. The fun starts when you drop your infernal in my opinion… and when you play PvP.

I think Demonology is the best spec for warlocks in M+. They can do a lot of AoE damage and single target damage; they have two stuns too so that’s an extra bonus.
If I remember correctly the rotation doesn’t change that much but you’ll have to track more things for sure:

  • Timing for Demonic Tyrant.
  • Implotion stacks (warlocks mains, feel free to correct me in this one).
  • etc.

Edit: I read that you aren’t a fan of dotting, I guess the first option is not ‘your cup of tea’. My bad.
