Mages Talent tree

Hello guys!
I think Mages need an overall redisign. Many of the changes are good and blizzard is doing a good job. However, since I ve been playing mage for a long time I feel that now, in DF, the specs lost a little identity. When you take Dragon’s Breath and nerf it and make it to all specs you are, in a certain way, nerfing fire. Frost and Arcane have many slows and fire had DB in a short CD.
A big issue that, in my opinion, is ruining the class is that there are many abilities that are just doing nothing. Mages and classes in general don’t need many abilites to make it fun and good to play. For exemple, ring of fire, Greater Pyro(if u unerf it like in BFA it is playable) are just not good options as pvp talents, feels like you have to lock in the same talents for every matchup.

Frost - have Comet Storm, Ray of Frost and Glacial Spike that are abilities that should be removed from the game. First it doesnt do any good damage, makes the rotation and spec feel confusing. Just make frostbolt and flurry do serious damage.

Arcane - Feels so confusing cause you have so many buttons to press. Arcane surge which is the big offensive cooldown does irrelevant damage. Plus you have touch of the magi, Radient Spark, Supernova, Presence of Mind, Nether Tempest, Arcane Familiar, Evocation and Mana gem. Are jsut non needed abilities. Reduce the number of abilities and make the existing one to do serious damage.

Fire - I feel fire is in a good spot and Blizzard made a fun and enjoyble tree talent. Everything feels that make sense and connects to the next talent. Very well design class. At the moment I feel like fire have been nerfed so many times in the passed that some nerfs should be unerfed. Like Pyrokenisis should be buffed for 1secs, Combust not purgeable, Dragon’s Breath fire ONLY 18-20secs CD. And a slight buff on overall damage.

In short, I would say 5 to 7 damaging abilites make the rotation feels like fun and playble. Less abilites and more damage. And I think the utility for the specs should be like:

Dragon’s Breath - Fire ONLY (18-20 secs CD)
Deep freeze - Frost ONLY
Slow - Arcane ONLY

Thanks for the atention. I hope that I made myself clear.
Let me know your opinions!
Cheers

I’ve only really played Arcane properly so far and most of what you’re saying about it is, as far as I can tell, completely wrong.

It’s the second highest hitting ability Arcane can get behind an amped up Arcane Barrage (and maybe a big Touch of the Magi), mine crits for like 90k. It’s also an AoE ability and a lot of its power comes from the damage and mana regen buff it provides after the cast.

Nearly all of those talents are optional, depending on which build you’re running, with the exception of Touch of the Magi (which is basically always taken). The build I use literally only takes Touch of the Magi out of all the spells you listed and it works great.

There’s 0 reason to ever take Arcane Familiar - it should be buffed or removed along with Rule of Threes.

Supernova is also not a damage ability, it’s a knock-up CC, it does less damage than an Arcane Explosion but it’s on a 25 second cooldown.

I agree that there are perhaps too many abilities right now, there’s some massive button-bloat going on across the game, but just because they’re there doesn’t mean you have to take them.

Those two I can definitely agree on.

I however like having the option for a proper slow via Slow as Fire, I just wish Fire had a passive slow like it did with Frostfire Bolt or when Ignite had a glyph for a 50% slow.
