Hello everyone, I wanted to ask a question about lore. Magic in Warcraft is usually categorized as a cosmic force in general, an elemental power, or a mixture of both. The question would be the following: characters like Algalon the Watcher of Ulduar and Rygelon from the last Shadowlands raid belong to the Constellar race. They use cosmic magic. To which force would this magic belong? Originally, I thought it was higher arcane magic. However, currently, characters like the upcoming Demon Hunter Devourer will use spells that do that type of damage, and this would be more related to the void. So, to which force would this type of magic belong in the end? Can someone clarify?
From my understanding cosmic magic is a hybrid school that combines arcane, holy, nature and shadow, and is supposed to be the magic school associated with creation and the cosmos.
There are other hybrid schools like radiant which combines holy and fire, or shadowfrost which combines shadow and frost as just two more examples from a priest players perspective.
Concerning the new demon hunter spec, if the damage is cosmic but more related to the void, then it’s likely the source of magic may lean more heavily into shadow than the other 3 elemental categories (lore wise). In-game mechanics will be different though.
It’s likely you can think about it the same way as dark shamans use decay magic to dominate the other elements (storm, earth, fire, water) when casting their spells; as opposed to a traditional shaman harmonizing the four elements with spirit when calling upon their abilities.
So in the context of the demon hunters cosmic spells they could be using void as the driving force. Although, I’m just speculating here as I don’t know the lore behind the spec other than their intro during the K’aresh raid. We’ll have to wait until they’re released to find out more. There’s probably going to be some introductory quest/story for demon hunters too.

As a further note, I find it kind of interesting that it implicates that demon hunters can now innately use light + nature magic in some capacity if accurate. Would of thought other hybrid schools like shadowfrost or shadowflame would be more appropriate, so there’s likely a lore reason they’re going with cosmic for the devourer spec. Most likely it’s going to be related to the void lords etc… being cosmic/space entities.
Cosmic type of magic is literally the combination of all “essential” forces - light, death, nature, void, arcane, fel, etc
Order magic was a thing in dragonflight but it seems they changed it now.
Personally, I would imagine that the Constellars still use Order magic.
Not in the least since I believe they originate from the plane of Order, perhaps going so far as being created in Zereth Ordus along with the Pantheon of Order.
Constellar may be creatures from the plane of Order, given their orderly nature and arcane-like appearance. Eonar and the other titans also resemble them in their non-corporeal forms, such as when manifesting as the Seat of the Pantheon, further indicating a deeper connection between the Pantheon of Order and the constellar.

Arcane magic is an expression of order, just like holy magic is an expression of light. At least that’s my understanding reading off the (titan) cosmology chart, even if lore wise it’s not 100% accurate.
In essence they’re one and the same, it’s just that order is the cosmic force from which arcane magic is derived. Like a facet of it.
