I’ve just done a TW version and, for the love of N’Zoth, what did they do with Kael’thas voice? It sounds horrendous!
Quinton Flynn has been the voice of the iconic character Kael’thas in World of Warcraft for more than 15 years. Recently, one Twitter account dedicated to smearing Flynn’s name began circulating sexual harassment allegations about him. Even after a superior court found that the person running this Twitter account was actually an obsessed stalker, Blizzard Entertainment chose to replace Quinton Flynn as Kael’thas.
Yes, it’s absurd and pathetic as it sounds.
Blizzard pulled the wrong ripcord.
Quinton Flynn as original voice actor fell victim to unsubstantiated accusations, and yet the hypocritical Blizzard immediately replaced his voice.
Blizzard we’re to busy judging people from Twitter accusations instead of looking behind them in the office and noticing it was happening at their own work place. It’s all PR stunts.
and afterwards, blizzard was struck by the largest hit of irony imaginable with this lawsuit
Twitter is really a pure-cancer thing, isn’t it? I do think th eworld would be much happier without it!
So, if he was cleared, why didn’t they revert to the original soundtrack. Listening to this one made me worry that my sound system broke down
He was cleared in court before they removed him. That’s the confusing thing.
Blizzard is confused.
I will also add reddit
I honestly don’t understand the hype around twitter. The name pretty much indicates that it is a platform for gossip. Worse than Facebook though I’m glad I don’t have an account there either…
Blizzard hit himself
I generally follow official gaming company accounts to keep updated. I also follow a manga illustrator I like to see some of his casual art. I don’t really use it to post anything or read monologues people post.
Everything has different sides to it if you just follow accounts and subreddits about hobbies and the like it’s pretty chill, if you get into anything remotely political it’s a hellhole.
I tried joining a vegan subreddit once but just couldn’t take it anymore after a few weeks. People just love finding reasons to argue and be toxic instead of talking about stuff they like.

I do get what you mean but why does the world need like over 9000 social media formats to keep up with one single artist / game / musician / movie star or whatever. Can’t they just post their crap on one single feed? No person or company is that important that they’re producing daily content 24/7 for 10 channels to fill.
Because Blizzard is putting more effort into making Twitter happy than making the players happy.
Because he is a VA, and was not a direct employee of Blizzard, when you do a reboot of a character, such as Kael’thas with his appearance in SL, you get the new actor to re-record the old lines as well, for continuities sake.
It’s similar (But not exactly the same) as when a film franchise recasts an actor. How many actors have played Spider Man in the last two decades? Now the actors are all still in their respective films, but that is because a film is released as a stand alone. the Director’s can’t remaster your DVD collection remotely. An MMORPG is different. because all the content is available at the same time, and under their control, so they -can- remaster the VA talent. It’s been done before, and done without any scandal or smears involved. Lor’themar Theron has had two different voice actors, yet not because of any scandal.
It’s just how Voice Acting works. Quinton Flynn isn’t losing any money over this, he was already paid for his talent over a decade ago. That’s how it works.
It’s weird, because to be fair, given how VA’s are paid, Blizzard made a counter intuitive step there, because they’re going to have to pay the new guy PCH to redo all the old lines again, which essentially means they’re paying him for two expansions work, not just one, but I guess they went with Continuity>Cost .
The only actual damage done here is going to be to Mr Flynn’s professional pride, which is understandable, however once you have done a VA piece and your contract is over (As his was at the end of TBC), that work is the property of the people who contracted you. They can use it, not use it, get someone else to do it. It’s out of your hands. You don’t have agency over it anymore, the instant that dollar hits your bank account. Because you have been paid for your labour.
It simply is one of the vicissitudes as to how VA industry works. It is a harsh mistress, trust me.

Because Blizzard is putting more effort into making Twitter happy than making the players happy.
If you ask me, there should be a restriction to how many official accounts one single company can register for platforms. You pretty much have one for every game title plus three to five official company accounts to twitter about what? Outages? Can get more detailed infos about that from sites like down detector. It is an absolute jungle of (dis)information.
Minding this specific case, Blizzard most likely sacrificed the wrong scapegoat to keep the twittering about actual ongoings within the company as low as possible. Bad stage play all across the squad…

Some of which was caught on video.

He was cleared in court before they removed him.
There’s a difference between “not illegal” and “acceptable behaviour for someone who works on a game played by 13 year-olds”.
I’ve said this before and will say it again. We do not know the real story. There may have been NDAs and silence payments to potential victims. Blizzard do not need to justify this decision to anyone, they do not need to explain it to the white knights. If you don’t like it then feel free to vent your spleens here but if you want to make a difference you’d be better quitting the game and listing this as your reason why.

That is fair play. However, shouldn’t the new version be at least as good as the old one? The new one is terrible. Honestly I thought my sound system went bonkers!

How relevant it is to the case? If he was found not guilty (I do not know this case, first time I learnt about it from one of the replies) then he should be treated as such. Fair, whole story of any case is never revealed but the norm is to follow the court’s decision, otherwise we’d end up in a state of anarchy.
Regardles, the new voicing is done extremally bad. My opinion, of course. I’d rather they left the old voicing as it was and only use the new actor for SL scenes. I’ve not done The Eye in a long time (luckily got my Al’ar rather quickly years ago, and recent runs were for missing mogs from first two bosses only) but I hope they did a better job “upgrading” there than in M’T.
Anyhow, mystery solved. Thank you all
Same in Tempest Keep, they’ve put a horrible reverb on it. Sounds like a villain from 1970s Doctor Who now…
I’ve been running it for Ashes recently and it’s quite annoying.

Same in Tempest Keep
That’s what I call The Eye
Well, I am rather happy that I collected every piece of mog, the pet, and the mount from there and don’t have to go there ever again!
