I haven’t expirienced that issue on 9.1.0 but after the 9.1.5 update mail icon is appears upper right of the screen and when I checked my mailbox it looks empty. I wonder is that a new issue?
Every time I’ve had this bug after an update, I’ve tracked it down to a misbehaving addon.
So while it might seem cliche’d, check your addons by removing them (not just disabling them), to see if that fixes the issue, If it does, then add them back one by one until it borks again. The last addon you just added back is the faulty one.
Same problem here, my mailbox is bugged all over the place.
Sometimes it says that i got a mail when I haven’t
Sometimes it doesn’t say anything and yet I got 3 mails.
Better yet, I’m pretty sure a small part of my mails are disappearing into the abyss because I never receive a mail from a friend.
I’ve had this happen twice also on clean install with no addons. It’s definately a bug.
First time it just popped up saying i had mail from the AH but mail box was empty. I also didn’t have anything on the AH anyway so i know it was not a missing mail, just a buggy notification. Second time it just said i had unread mail, but was nothing in mail box again. Icon dissapears after about 30 seconds when you open mail box, unlike normally when it would go almost immediately.
I noticed that the mail icon now also shows on the character selection screen… not sure when that was added and if it was this patch as i have never seen that before. Maybe it’s related to that change…

We experienced an issue with stuck auction mails after patch, which likely explains the issue being described here. Your characters would be considered to have mail, but something was restricting it from being made available to them.
Last night’s maintenance should have resolved issues like this with the restart and a hotfix that went out, so please try again!

Sorry. Mail icon still sticks around for a few hours. Still bugged.
yes, still bugged. Not add-on related.
Character which had not used the auction house in years was shown to have mail from it, but it was empty.
This is still going on by the way.
Try after resetting your UI, not just turning addons off, if it still does it open a ticket.
