Main: DK vs DRUID

Hey guys, i have a bit of a dilemma. Seeing that Shadowlands is coming, I can not decide what to main.
The story is this:
I started playing WoW just before WOTLK with the idea that i will main a DK(loved the theme of it). At that time, there was the notion of “downtime”(time spent while eating to get your hp up) so, i level a druid(until 55) because the druid had the lowest downtime at that time.
The fantasy of transforming into animals appealed to me so i main-ed it until BFA. The only downside is that at every new expansion, i asked myself: “what should i main next?” but i always got back to the Druid(probably it was comfortable).

But now i started playing the DK(as intended since 2008) and i realised that:

  • the fantasy of the druid is close to my heart
  • i like the fast and mobile class that the druid is
  • i mainly play feral and guardian, and feral kinda recently
  • love the thematic of the DK with very cool skills
  • like that i can see my character with his items on
  • dislike that the DK is sooooo slow of a class

SO, the question is: what should i choose? the druid(feral/guardian) or the dk ?
i play 2v2s for fun(always trying to get the rating higher) and pve m+ and raids(usually at the beginning of expansions) and i usually tank(or melee dps)

Thanks for the time!

I find DK to be more enjoyable, but Druid has the luxury of having all roles… and if you got Nelf Druid you can be the all time pest of instantly flying away with meld in world PvP.

Seems to be you’re having a fall out with your DK, in which case I’d go with the Druid.

So you mained a Druid from 2008 until now? I guess all your reputations etc. are on that character. Is it ok for you to lose that stuff that you earned trough the years?

From your list the only thing you seem to prefer from DKs is the fact that you are not shapeshifted…so I would stick with the Druid.

You also have more choices if you decide to be a caster or healer in the future.

I wouldn’t reroll just for the sake of rerolling.
I sort of did that in BFA from my Mage, and i’ve been constantly changing mains because i’ve been trying to find something that I pretty much had on my Mage.

Although I have been enjoying Shaman and now I’m enjoying Affliction warlock.

I think DK is instant gratification. Especially in 2v2 arenas.
You go in blow your load and you either leave happy or you just go again.

Druid definitely has a higher skill ceiling. But if you’ve mained it for so long that probably isn’t an issue for you.

I personally think it would be a shame to go from Druid to a DK, you’d be going from a skill required class that you’re comfortable on, to a class anyone can pick up and be just as good as you pretty much as soon as they get the gear.

Here’s my suggestion to you, continue to main your Druid but take your DK alt seriously. You’ll naturally play one over the other.
Shadowlands is going to be a great alt expansion even if it’s just to have a different experience in Torghast or to do the other Covenants.

DK if you wanna be a cringy edgelord. 0 skill mongoloid btw. All specs are Very strong in all types of content. Looks even more OP in shadowlands.

Druid if you actually want to make decisions, especially in pvp, vs DK’s pop CD’s and tunnel all day. Resto is a fun, ultra strong spec for all content. Always was and always will be.

Feral is super fun in WPvP, 2v2s as well. Looks bad in SL so far tho.

Druid can do everything and they have great fun mobility.
DK are edgy wannabe “hulk smash”… strong but dumb skill wise.

Hey guys,

Cheers for the replies!

I think I’m gonna stick with my druid in sickness and in health
I could potentially try to play balance as well, even tho it doesn’t seem my type of gameplay and in the past, i could never stick to it .

I could potentially keep my dk as an alt, when I dont have much to do on the dudu

Thanks!

It sounds like you would be better off maining a Druid and then playing the DK as the second character through SL. I plan to have 4 “mains” that have a covenant each but my true main is always my Paladin.

the downside for the druid, for me, is that the druid as a class is the least badass class of all  ,especially compared with the dh/dk

To quote the famous Alamo:“DURID FOR LIFE”

If you are not sure then pick Covenant:

Night Fae? Druid
Venthyr? Blood Death Knight
Necrolords? Other Death Knight
Kyrian? Uninstall :unamused:

DIdnt know DKs were edgelords but hey, coming from a class which wouldn’t be used save for 1 or 2 abilities then I’d be mad too.

L O L

The night fae leader is the winter queen apparantly so expect no shortage of frost death knights there

Those damn DK dps players in my Mythic raid really bug me! They almost deal 50% of the dps that firemages and bm hunters do. And they’re so incredibly mobile that they’re the best choice for N’zoth, unlike those awful DHs or Rogues!

That’s sarcasm, in case you’re wondering. Outside of m+ with gigantic pulls, dk dps is currently quite sub par, compared to the fotm specs. So “all specs are very strong in all types of content” is an exaggeration if I’ve ever seen one.

Get better DKs in your raid group, is all I can say

Btw neither rogue, nor dh are top DPS now. So you’re pretty clueless)))

Nah, but you take both rogue and dh to N’zoth, because they provice immunities AND deal more dps than dk. But statistics and facts obviously lie and your feelings are more correct than anything on warcraftlogs, am I right?

The fact that there were only DKs in mythic progress for good guilds during 3 out of 12 bosses, the fact that DKs were only picked in niché AoE scenarios during the MDI and only UH DKs, no frost DKs, and so on.

If you truly cared about facts, I am very willing to list you several websites that contradict everything you feel, and thus say, about DKs being “very strong in all types of content”, but obviously your own opinion is worth more than any fact that contradicts said opinion.

Without further ado

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/statistics/24/

https://raider.io/mythic-plus-rankings/season-bfa-4/all/world/leaderboards

As you can see, Frost DK is middle of the field for raiding, while UH DK being focused on AoE is at the lower end.

For M+, Blood and UH DK are picked roughly the same while frost is being picked very little. In the top 100 played keys we see a total of 8 DKs (out of 400 possible DKs).

Obviously those from your guild are the “better DKs” I assume? Please elaborate as to what I am looking for in a good dk, because when checking the top 10 players for each boss encounter, I’ve only found a singular DK in said top 10 for dps. And he was on place 10 out of 10, for carapace, a boss where damage padding is quite obvious for good logs.

So why is it, that the best players in the world, or at the very least the highest dps players in the world haven’t managed to beat other classes regarding logs, when EVERY specc is strong in EVERY aspect of the game?

I’m sorry, but people such as you are irritating. I know it hurts to get beat by other people in videogames, but that doesn’t mean that their class is superior to yours, it just means they were better. Sure sometimes it also means their class is superior, but DK? Really? Even FERAL DRUID performs better both on average as well as on the max level than any of the two DK dps specs do.

But yeah, obviously I’m the clueless one and Kinjal from the famous guild Dysfunctional Family knows the ins and outs of what’s strong and what isn’t. I wonder why they’re not playing in a World rank 1 guild yet.

DK is the best class for high M+, every MDI grp has 1-2, DK is S+ tier in Arena, last time I checked Nyalota mythic was before boss nerfs and DKs were top melee, UH especially. DK is one of the best for Visions. Noone cares about your triggered emotional post, (DKs are mostly edgy snowflakes, so no surprise there). I said that DK is super strong in all content because it’s a fact. Also, mongoloid and absolutely braindead in PvP, and that’s fact. Case closed, won’t reply again.

P.S. DK also looks and sounds like sh1t, but that’s how I “feel”

1 or 2 Unholy DKs. How many frost DKs exactly? How many Blood DKs?

“All specs are strong, here’s my evidence: One spec being played in the mdi!”

23k parses compared to over 100k parses on DH, 75k parses on warrior, 70k parses on rogue, even before nerfs. “Top Melee” obviously.

Translates to literally never in this case.

Oh yes, I get emotional and triggered when people spread false information. It’s just a rude thing to do that hurts not only themselves but others as well, which is why I usually call it out, as you can see here in this post.

DK is my third tank so really no emotional attachement there.

It is your feeling. It may be strong in Arena, no idea there. UH DK is strong in M+ and padded aoe bossfights, nowhere else. Blood DK is average in everything and only shines through grips, which were used for Ilgynoth, Hivemind and Carapace. Frost DK is below average in everything. Those are the facts, which are being supported by ALL THE EVIDENCE I’VE POSTED IN MY PREVIOUS POST, which apparently you failed to check, as I’ve predicted in my previous post.

That is something we can agree on. You are exactly the kind of person I expected you to be and I pity you for that. You’ll improve at one point in your life, but until then please refrain from intentionally spreading misinformation. It is hurtful to our entire world when there’s people such as you in there.

My Blood DK is not happy about passive armor increase that got removed after Legion :unamused:
