*Major spoilers* Do you ever feel like Blizzard don't respect their audience?

Fear not, the fact that this got greenlit is proof of it!

Written by women abusers. So it doesnt really matter.

I mean, I knew there were flagrant women abusers at Blizzard since at least Cataclysm, and 5.1 was basically “misogyny, the patch”, but sadly I expect this wasn’t written by the worst of them given how much of post BfA lore has been made up practically on the spot before the PTR

I feel like I’m missing the point. Was the cinematic bad or? Dumb it down for someone who doesn’t really follow lore :3

Yeah I don’t get it what’s the issue? Think people are viewing it wrong maybe?

Elune sent the souls from those killed in Teldrasil straight to Ardenweald to help them in the draught, and as a blessing to the night elves. Something (obviously the jailor) blocked her sight from them going to the maw. It basically shows us elune was trying to protect ardenweald and the elves, and the jailor is powerfuller and fooled her.

I can just say, why I dislike the cinematic:

There were often discussions about why Elune did nothing in BfA. Some even speculated that she’s abandoned the Nelfs.
The whole Teldrassil burning event overall seemed like they just needed a reason for a war, so they sacrificed a huge amount of Nelves and their home.

Most players were expecting something justifying the whole thing. But they just kept being losers in BfA. The Night warrior Power up seemed like a joke (from which you will die like we heard in the NF campaign).
Even Nathanos’ death seems laughable because he would probably be sent to where Sylvanas is.
And then we get this questionable cinematic at the end of the new raid, where some speculate that it’s the first step towards her redemption.

The Winterqueen asked her Sister (Elune) for help because of the anima drought. Even though millions of souls from the whole universe and parallel universes like the one where Garrosh died should come to the shadowlands every day, Elune thought it would help to send of a few hundred/thousand Nelf souls to her sister. And then she’s sad that they landed in the Maw.
Also she made it sound like “yeah, I killed around half of a race worshipping me for thousands of years to help you”.

It just seems like Elune is an idiot and Blizzard would do the players a great favour by just not mentioning Teldrassil anymore, because every time they do it somehow gets worse :man_shrugging:

Basically, all but attempted genocide of the night elves? That was actually a good thing!

You really should edit your title to put SPOILER in there.

Yo, folks, you don’t get it. Sylvanas was both mind controlled by Elune and tricked by the Jailer, all because her other soul was missing.

Elune doesn’t think her kids burning alive is a big deal as long as it serves the afterlife (barely since it was only a thousand of them).

Elune also for some reason gives Tyrande the powers to take revenge on someone who seemingly didn’t do anything wrong and was a puppet in this show, only to stop her when she’s about to claim said revenge.

Yeah, I think it’s bad.

More like:

Elune let night elves die to feed souls to Ardenweald, souls ended up going to Maw.
Elune gave Tyrande powers to get vengeance (knowing she’ll die), only to take them away just before she can kill Sylvanas.

This is just bad.

Clearly you didn’t get the message of the video. From what I understood there was nothing she can do to save them. But she did help them try to reach Ardenweald for a better life, while at the same time helping her sister. The souls never made it because Jailer did something. (We the Ardenweald players, save some of them and bring them to Ardenweald) plus there are Night elves who refused to leave the tree (due to the injured they were trying to heal) and Elune gave them a peaceful death so they don’t feel the burn.

I uhh… what? I can’t remember all of that patch but wasn’t that the patch where the Alliance and Horde in full arrived to Pandaria and blew stuff up? How is that misogyny?

This. This is right.

It’s more of this idiotic, crazy, convoluted writing.

Like I’m actually trying to wrap my head around this and it’s quite difficult.

So… Sylvanas is now “not bad” for two reasons, I think?

  1. She didn’t have her soul so she had no moral compass but now she does so she’s no longer as bad
  2. What she did was, unbeknownst to her, actually the will of the people she killed

So then Elune powers up Tyrande to chase Sylvanas down for Sylvanas’s cruel deeds that Elune actually planned herself so that Tyrande can have her life ruined by chasing Sylvanas only to then be betrayed by Elune. Why did Elune do this? She is presented here as a moral and revered character, but… uhhh… what?

And also, she did all of this without consulting with the Winter Queen first to check if that plan actually made any sense at all.

And then finally Tyrande chooses no more vengeance, which I assume must mean that she has decided to make amends with Sylvanas. I’m surprised that Tyrande didn’t choose “I’ll have my vengeance on Elune, then” - but okay then. I guess… … ??? No, I’m… I’m just confused.

Yes, this is definitely a redemption arc. A really contrived, convoluted one. The morality of what’s taking place in this story makes me sick.

I have said it before and I will say it again: I am here for the friends and history I have here. This… this is trash. I expect better from the bargain bin.

EDIT: Now, some are suggesting that Elune didn’t cause them to die but actually moved them around the arbiter but failed, but according to the lore that’s impossible - and if it was possible then the fact that the arbiter was dormant wouldn’t have made any difference.

She may be one that guides the arbiter, but if she guides the arbiter then surely she would have noticed the arbiter was dormant. Or maybe she didn’t, I assume for the same reason she didn’t contact The Winter Queen.

But okay then, maybe she can’t get to the Shadowlands to check if her ideas are good. Maybe the Jailer is preventing that somehow. No idea how he could; his speciality is chains, not blinders. Well, she could’ve gone to the Dream. didn’t do that, either.

This story is just… just…

ò.Ó
I try, I swear I try, to make sense of it.

The only end to sylvanas’ story-arc I would accept is for her to be trial for her crimes, sentenced to death and guillotined publicly.
Then her remains cut in 4 pieces scattered and hung at the doors of SW and Orgri. Like we did to big war criminals during the hundred years war.

If that’s how you viewed the game/ cutscenes so far. Then you’re looking at it completely wrong.

How did Ellune let them die? We have no idea idea where she even is. She might be in hiding half way across the universe, or sealed away, who knows. We know she’s watching over thousands of planets. My money she’s going to be like captain marvel “it’s a big universe, I can’t protect everyone”. The jailor/sylvanas killed the night elves, absolutely nothing to do with Ellune.

Ellune gave Tyrande powers yes, we have no idea to what end though. Ellune obviously doesn’t want Sylvanas dead yet. The powers were most likely given to help vs the jailor, but Tyrande went for the lesser threat beacuse it was personal. She most likely has plans involving Sylvanas further down the line. Again we have no idea and people have just assumed the 2 points and thought of no other possibilities lol.

I feel like Elune can be much more powerful and greater than what they are showing her to be. I mean this is the woman we worship since Ancient times.

It’s bad enough Night elves keep getting trashy lore, like losing our homes in Ashenvale, Teldrassil, and Darkshore.

And now this… come on. Please don’t ruin her.

You know, there’s someone else being criticized for the same thing. Elune works in mysterious ways.

Fan fiction intensifies. Sacrificing her children to sustain her sister. How creepy is this new storytelling can be.
I dont consider it canon and simply tolerate this plot existance.
