AH is a nightmare even on 1 megaserver. Assuming it would even load anything, it will be either nearly impossible to buy things without searching over and over and over because there will be 10x more people trying to buy the same thing, or you would get instantly undercut by 10 people everytime you post anything.
Do you realize what connected realms are and why they did them?
Theyâre basically some very low pop realms connected with a bigger one or just between themselves.
For example Defias Brotherhood is connected with 6 other realms and has a total population of 6k ⌠that is 5 times less than Firemaw alone ⌠and none of the retail realms, connected or otherwise are anywhere close to 30k, which Firemawâs 30k is just chars logged anyway
If you connect the AH of Firemaw and Gehennas you basically killed it.
With pre-patch to WotLK coming out, i imagine server balance spreading out a bit more again, with much more ppl resubbing, and creating new characters, i imagine the server pop of the lower popped servers will rise naturally, as they have before. And maybe alot of people and guilds are gonna transfer aswell to lower popped servers due to wanting to feel more powerful and wealthy, compared to on Gehennas and Firemaw where alot of high end players and guilds are.
Even tho i would also âkindaâ like a server merge to give more opportunity to play without queues and just overloaded server in general, i would like even more for blizzard to reward ppl choosing to play on low pop servers.
Could be a small thing as a +5-10% xp/rep boost aura for ppl playing on servers below âmediumâ pop. That would sure bring some new players along, aswell as people wanting to level new toons in prep for WotLK. I feel that would bring a refreshing feel to the abandonded servers.
Itâs quite the opposite. Returning players (especially if they spread across low pop realms) will not refuel low pop realms sufficiently to survive long term. This happened at start of TBC and will repeat in Wotlk. After the initial hype is gone, some people will naturally start quitting. This has little to no impact on 30000 servers, but can cause quite a mess on small 4000 realm. As TBCC history goes, we can pretty surely say that it takes just 2-3 big guilds leaving a small realm to cause mass transfer hysteria.
Just make 1 mega server, itâs what is going to happen in the end anyway because you donât want to be stuck on a lesser server with no possible recruits.
