You don’t understand. Mandatory warmode on means that the game will force their WM to be on thus making them targets to everyone. Mandatory also means no choice to turn it off.

Good idea, horrible suggestion. Forcing Warmode with no-option to disable it will (1) possibly lead players to quit altogether or (2) not even effect them since the chance of being ganked in the open world is low nowadays even if the opposite faction outnumbers you 10-to-1. The only times WM PvP happens is when a chest drops and in PvP world quests.
Also losing Conquest: What if you are already at 0? What if you just recover it immediately with the next match?
Nope, the penalty should just be reworked: You can still immediately requeue for PvP. However:
- You get low priority as long as you have Deserter debuff. This means that you will picked to join a match only if your role is in need.
At the same time, anyone who happens to find themselves in the same group as someone who has the Deserter debuff:
- (a) Will be informed that they are queued with someone who has recently Deserted a match
- (b) Will be allowed to leave without penalty!
The idea is to change the Deserter debuff from “You can’t queue” to “Players will be warned that you leave groups” and therefore give people the option if they want to play with them or not without penalty.
