Make m+ rating show your main rating

Yes way.

That’s basically me if I play a DK as well. I can do like 7k on a boss on my hunter but if I’m playing my DK as dps? Nah bro, I’ll do like 2k dps on a boss. Max.

A very pleasing pic to see the survival topping, lol.

When i see player with 2k+ rating on their main i almost always invite them instantly into my +15s and i almost never regret it. Had 500 rating fire mage pulling 12k dps with his main dh tank with 2.3k rio… and on and on…

i guess i need a special flag on my characters then :upside_down_face:

You were lucky imo. I regretted it more than not.

I had similar experience as ele. It wasn’t so bad as I did it on a +6/7 so it was +2 anyway, but people were not happy.

:joy:

“You do more damage as a resto shaman than your dk does as dps, how tf?”

There’s a chance he’s played the fire mage in prior patches and simply didn’t bother with it this season yet.

I am in for showing your main score when you are applying to groups, but it should be shown separately to character experience, and char exp should still be the one that shows first.

If you get your alt’s Raider IO up to at least 200, then the RIO addon will show your main’s RIO score to other people (assuming you logged into the RIO webpage, synced your characters, and specified who your main char is).

Once people can see that your alt isn’t a complete n00b but is played by someone who has more experience, you’ll be more likely to get invited.

I still use RIO just for its ability to show people’s main rating. It definitely would be nice if Blizz added this information to their own implementation.

yes, most likely. but its not the only example. Most of the people rated 2k+ have been great despite their alts being low in my experience.

It says something about player generally. Like i said before, someone who can do 15-20 keys has to be a good player, has to know tactics, should have some sanity and do apply for high keys knowing he will perform bad… etc… do you get my point?

I play several characters, 7 of them i try to do weekly 15 each week. I can pull 8k+ on any of them, yet my rating is around 1k on most of them, because i run only one dungeon each week. So its impossible to get into decent +15 group and its even kinda hard to get good people into my own group because, hey, how are they supposed to know im good? DL addon?!

Am i really such a minority here?

I don’t mean doing the same damage as resto, but 4-5k is not something to write home about as ele at my ilvl.

I think most people who are serious about m+ are running the Raider io addon and don’t have this issue.

You have a very specific problem, wanting the addon functionality without using the addon, normally people just resort to installing the addon and don’t give it a second thought.

Yep. That’s exactly what im talking about here. They should expand upon the system. I am using so many addons and this one requires maitnance. I dont want to do that. Blizz deepend the problem for people not using the addon with this implementation in my opinion, not making m+ experience a lot better in my opinion.

People not using addon are now at worse spot than ever before.

You are right. But come on. Blizzard could and should make better implementation of this system.

Cant rely on addons with everything. Should not. But then again - no damage meter since vanilla. Meh.

I agree with you in principle, but Blizzard has learned to rely on addon developers quite a lot over the years.

I think even in this case, they reviewed the Raider io addon and just decided to add the most basic part of it into the base game UI (the rating). I kinda get they don’t want to make the in-game version of it too complex I guess.

Yep. But i think it made the experience worse for some people not using the addon now tho.

Which is not a good thing.

Did it, really? Previously they could not see any of the scores and now they can see the score of the applying character. That is a net gain.

Did they? Before this, people who didn’t use addon didn’t have any rating shown, which often made them auto declined. At least this way your rating is visible to others.

And I would reiterate on the above mentioned argument that knowing to play one class is not a clear indication you’re equally good with the other. You are maybe better than others having low rating due to knowing dungeon tactics, but your 2k+ rating might be deceitful in the sense of understanding class mechanics (as the above arcane mage example shows).

How someone performs on their main with a specific combo of gear/spec/talents does mean they will perform the same on an alt. The rating you have on your main reflects what you can do on your main, not on an alt with an entirely different set of gear/spec/talents.

Was baited in a +13 mist, aside me, rest of the group did same dps as the tank.

Feel your pain.
