Make Pandaria Normal and Heroic Raids Flex from the Start

For Pandaria Classic, consider removing the current “flex” difficulty (10-30 players), which is easier than normal and heroic. Instead, make normal and heroic raids flexible from the outset. This change would address the current issues in Cataclysm raids, where 10-player groups often lack essential raid buffs, and managing 25-player rosters is challenging for many guilds.

However, this adjustment could impact competitive players focused on progression, speedrunning, or similar activities, as they would need to account for the “optimal number of players.” To address this, introduce a fixed-size mode (e.g., 20 or 25 players) for heroic difficulty. This mode would not scale with player count and would cap participation at a set number. It would also include a unique “Cutting Edge” achievement to preserve the competitive integrity of speedruns and high-level progression content.

This change would make raiding more enjoyable by reducing benching and allowing guilds to continue more easily if someone is absent—common issues in both 10- and 25-player content during Cataclysm.

Heroic was never a flex raid, it just got renamed to mythic and normal was renamed to heroic. (Even soo hc was just scaled to 20 man in prepatch and named mythic).

Yes, and that is exactly my point. I am pleading for blizz to make heroic and normal into flex sizes, since the 10man and 25man sizes currently in effect in Cataclysm aren’t working that well anymore.

The biggest issue with raid size is the population of the server. Would be cool if they merge some servers, especially those that are not english

I do agree with you that servers need to merge, but that is likely comming anyways.

I do however not agree that this is a problem only due to server population. Even when Pyrewood was at its peak I know many guilds that, when raid was about to start only had 23 people in the raid, week after week because they didn’t want to overrecruit so that they would have to bench too many people, but when too many people were absent on that day its what happend. This is very demoralizing when progressing and causes big stress on officers.

Additionally, higher server populations wont make a dent onto the probems with 10man raids currently cause the problem is that you can’t have too many spare raiders because then a disproportionate amount of people will be on bench. Also with how raid buffs and utility works 10man is just an unideal size for the raids.

All of these problems would be solved if normal and heroic raids are maid into flex size instead of bringing in that meaningless “flex” raid mode.
