Unnecessary. Sub has no issues in generating Combo Points, especially not after the coming changes. It would also devalue Generators even more, which has been a long ongoing issue with the Spec. In many ways, despite the Talent being very powerful, it might be too much, because it works counter to what Shadow Dance is about.
So you can macro it with evis and press shadow strike after… instead of… macroing it with shadow strike and pressing evis?
It’s better for fluidity and especially for aoe.

i like that you can do some tricks with it though kinda hard to master not wasting combo point because admitedly it happens.

In st it’s possible, but you also generate a lot more combo points, i think that the first dance just doesn’t quite fit the gameplay of sub anymore.
And filling your cp bar is just better, more straightforward.
I feel like sub has always been mostly a pvp spec aside from that, why is overcapping a few points such a sin ?
After all its better to have more than less, and im pretty sure this is the case because yesterday i tried playing without it and it sucked.

again overcapping on Combo Points isnt a big deal.

Overcapping isn’t a big issue honestly, at least not as much as some people wanna say.
I would 100% take a much tighter/better feeling rotation with lots of cps, than a slow one with downtime, but your finishers do like 2 mil damage per press. Should they try to do something about overcapping? Yes, but only if they retain the good parts of the rotation.
For example, recently they changed shadowcraft to avoid overcapping during shadow blades, that was a good change, things like that.
In any case, it’s not like sub finishers are hitting like wet noodles, eviscerates can get to like 300k+, and that’s just the physical damage.
The point of this is that it would just feel better to press s dance, and immediately use a finisher, rather than build 3 points, dance and then finish, and for aoe, this change would be better in every way. As it can get impossible to properly use the first dance in aoe, if shuriken storm brings you to 7 combo points anyway, or more than 3/4.
The point is, overcapping isn’t a massive issue, but if there are parts of the rotation where they can fix, overcapping, without impacting the spec as a whole in a negative way, they should do it.
You realize, these points are good examples of why this would be unnecessary.
To make Shadow Dance feel special, I think it needs a couple of thing. It needs to be a Subtlety only thing. It doesn’t really fit Outlaw or Assassination. The fantasy of the ability is core to Subtlety, and sharing it devalues that. Another thing, that might sound a bit counterintuitive, is to limit its usage. A single 1min CD, no CDR mechanics affecting it, no extra charges. For it to matter, for it to feel special, it needs to feel like a meaningful choice, instead of just another button in your rotation.
Now, I think there is an argument to be made for a mechanic that can increase the duration of Shadow Dance, if you play it right. Rewarding good play is a good thing, and it helps introduce a realistic, attainable way of feeling how the better you play, the more you get out of the ability.
Resources and Abilities matter only, if there is some kind of opportunity cost to using them. If you can get free Combo Points from whatever you do, you might as well just remove the whole thing, as it is completely redundant at that point.
I don’t know why you would think that.
A 1 min shadow dance would frankly feel terrible on sub, and it’s not gonna happen. It would lead to such ridiculous levels of burst. And we already have a cde mechanic on it, although it’s static. I wouldn’t mind having a choice node where you can increase your uptime on s dance at the cost of some burst.
Aside that, i actually like shadow dance on the other specs, it frankly feels awesome on outlaw.
I only really care about gameplay than “exclusivity”.
