From the start ive been wondering why the new epic crafted items are BoP and not BoE. I feel bump for taking mining and engi because they are my fav professions and now because of it feeling left out because most of my BiS items are LW crafts for my rogue.
You’ve been looking for gold sinks, where the answer is right in front of your nose.
Make the new crafted items BoE and people will buy them because they are BiS and the crafters can earn some gold back from investing in to getting the pattern.
How it is right now yes, but they can make it so that you need a specific material to craft the item that is sold by a vendor. Like for example the hog in wrath.
That’s not a gold sink. It’s just trade.
(The 5% auction cut and potentially the deposit fee are sinks.)
Gold sink is when you take up LW, spend the money at the trainer, craft, and then revert back to engineering and spend the money again. And, to a tiny extent, spending the mats - instead of vendoring the leather, you make items of lesser vendor value, or disenchant (which has no vendor value).
Or when you buy a mount.
Anyway, semantics aside, I sort of agree.
I kinda see how they would become mandatory, but anyway.
Making professions useful and profitable.
How would it make professions profitable? Supply side would just keep lowering the price until its equal to base materials. Isnt that why BoP crafts exist to begin with, to make sure that people get at least something special from leveling a profession?
