I was thinking about having a better connection to talking to spirits than the light and a farseer reached out to help me hone my skills and ever since practiced the ways of shamanism?
Would this be exceptable?

Putting on my draenei lore hat, I don’t see anything particularly wrong with it and would just add context.
Shamanism is a very recent addition to draenei culture, only practiced in the latter days on draenor from the refuge at Telredor. Following the slaughter at Shattrath, the victims of the shadow council’s bioweapon mutated into krokul and lost their connection to the Light. Nobundo’s awakening to the elements was the key back into draenei society, regarding shamanism as yet another path to the Light via what we now know to be the fifth element of Spirit.
Later on, there is a significant religious minority at the exodar who study shamanism under krokul teachers with the approval of Velen. However, it isn’t without its stigma. When krokul first appeared, they were regarded sickly and isolated, the stigma and prejudice continuing to some extent. During Rakeesh’s invasion of the Exodar, Nobundo remarks that many would have considered the krokul/shamans to be acceptable losses.
Consider this and the context of your character’s lessons. He should probably be rather young.
Well how young would a yoing dranei be, I thought about this they are a very old aged race
There’s no real number to draenei lifespans. Velen and the Lightforged have been confirmed as being effectively immortal due to the Light’s influence but we have a few other npcs who remember Argus 25,000 years ago without seeming any worse for it. The only example of a genuinely elderly draenei is old Loola on draenor who seems addled and obsessed with frogs, thinking that her husband was turned into one. It’s arguably the case that her mental state is due to the large hypnotoad hiding in the nearby waterfall and not particular senility.
I think that the latest figure plants the draenei on draenor roughly 300 years ago so maybe yours was born in that timeframe and discovered his calling when Nobundo started taking in apprentices?
I don’t think that Draenei is the race that truly allows you to get immersive shamnistic/ tribal experience simply because draeni isn’t tribal society.
They only shown to communicate with elementals and broken had it because they lost connection with light - but they’re lacking any real abilities that are associated with tribal spiritualism as they don’t have any traditions in this regard, nor culture that rever various primal spirits.
Shamanism is also frowned upon by other dranei because some still consider it “orc magic” and it’s taking them away from the path of the Light.
I can see them using meditation, and they had Achurenai to commune with spirits of the fallen draenei but Achurenai are the branch of shadow priests that had nothing to do with broken from what I know.
In other words - good luck buddy to come up with something interesting.
Well Shamanism is something they will have come to later in life, as for when hearing and gaining the trust of the elements in Azeroth, does not necessarily mean they could commune with them on Draenor (although they could very well have).
In terms of Age, the Draenei left Argus 25,000 years ago, but this is considered by most to be very old. They left upon a ship that split into the Xenadar (those who remained as the Army of the Light), and the Genedar.
Those upon the Genedar travelled from world to to world whilst the Legion hunted them, eventually settling in Draenor (After crashing into it, see Osh’ogun in Nagrand) ~200 years ago.
They lived in relative peace with the native Orcs, until (Main Universe) the Legions reached out to the Orcs and corrupted them with promises of untold power. After the destruction of Shattarath, the Auchenai Temple, the Draenei lost much of their connection with the Light, it was in this time that Nobundo, and others with him, learned to communicate with the elements.
With the shattering of Draenor into Outland and the Orcish Horde creating the portal to Azeroth, the majority of Draenei left aboard the Exodar (one of the ship’s built alongside the fortress of Tempests Keep), eventually crashing into Azeroth after Sin’dorei infiltration.
This gives you a lot of scope within which to decide your character. It would be unusual for them to be born on Draenor, at perhaps only less than three centuries old they would likely barely be considered an adult within society. It is far more likely they were born either on the Genedar, or one of the worlds they settled on briefly between Argus and Draenor. This gives you a scope of between 25,000 and 200 years in terms of Age (But I would suggest somewhere in the several thousands).
There is also the option to consider the Alternate Universe Draenor, where the Legions influence was avoided by most, instead the Iron Horde became the dominant threat.
After the war they could have then returned with the Alliance to discover this “new world” of Azeroth, but you would need to consider what had compelled them to leave all that they knew, friends and family behind, after the defeat of Gul’dan and Kil’jaden, and stability had been returned to Draenor.
I hope this has been of some use. Good luck in your Roleplay Journey!
