This Wednesday (3/11/21) with 9.1.5 apparently it was decided to make the macro unusable to destroy the mana gems in the bag to create new ones, without having to manually delete them. This is quite annoying. I don’t really understand the reason for this choice. Lock candies for example… if you have 2 in your bag and you click and it gives you one to get to 3. Kyrian vial same thing, same mage water. Please fix it…
Agreed, its annoying as an ability and only annoying.
A single 3 charge mana gem has a 2 minute CD which if you are playing properly is used up after 6 minutes. However to maximise uptime you will always destroy then remake the mana gem at a time that doesn’t effect your DPS (Cutscenes, Deaths, Every obnoxious break in action during the Sylvanas fight)
Now rather than having a good solution like I don’t know, having the gem have say 20 charges to cover all content lengths, which on aggregate would make zero difference difference to DPS. We had this macro that would delete it, then recreate it which no longer works.

Considering I am having to do this mid boss fight to min max, its bad design to start with. I assume Mana Gems were added at the beginning SL in as an attempt to capture some of the flavour of classic.
I have no idea why they added them back. If they want to add a spell to correct your mana pool when you have over burnt it slightly just add an ability (OFF the GCD) that restores 10% mana with a 2 mins CD and call it ‘Ley Tap’ or alike.

I mean, heroic is kinda relaxing raiding, so minmaxing there is inherently funny. Minmaxing with mana gems sounds hilarious.

The only one I have to do it on Sylvanas because the fight was designed by someone that does not understand that theatrics and gameplay should never be mixed up to this insane extent and interfere with the flow of the fight so frequently. There is no other HC fight I need to do this on other than her.
It is always an issue in M+ now however.
Hasn’t killed a mythic boss this expac.
Didn’t kill Slyvana’s till the 7th week.
Didn’t kill fatescribe and guardian till the 11th week .
Come on here on judges people for trying to play their toons the best they can in hc.
Also I thought using mana gems mid rotation was a dps loss?
Yeah, as I said, a relaxing side activity. Just for its completion.
You killed… three mythic bosses… that’s not even good. That’s what I used to be able to pug in past tiers when I had a little more will to PvE.
And don’t make me point out your lack of PvP achievements in SL
Hc Sylvanas and fatescribe are not relaxing content. They are frustating punishing bosses. Just because you don’t want to minmax doesn’t mean other people don’t want to or even don’t need to to help get the rest of their raid team through. As for me I don’t pvp and I can only progress as far as my new guild which has struggled with losing players this tier as many guilds have.
