Mankrik's wife quest was better than the whole DF story

One simple vanilla quest had more feeling and depth than the whole “aspectral” powers “family” saga

Mankrik is so iconic , love the dude and I hope he can go to Maldraxxus and reunite with Olgra when he dies gloriously.

I think a lot of the older quests are more engaging in general, since there’s more of a clear and consistent effort to make them fit the zone that they’re in as well as feed into a greater narrative.

The Defias Brotherhood, for example, tied into multiple zones. Duskwood has some very great quest chains that feed into the creepy atmosphere.

For much of Dragonflight I was rolling my eyes at how cutesy and ‘safe’ every other quest happened to be. I’m tired of Elves and Dragons being made to talk like narcissistic content creators/giggling schoolgirls.

Kalecgos’ personal story throughout the campaign was quite good.

But that family bs iht of nowhere right after the raid was not needed.

Exaclty!

Thing such as the Mankrik’s wife quest, and the Defias brotherhood, or the Scarlet crusade immediately created immersion. The DF stuff - on the contrary

I think it is because in Vanilla everything was about the journey and the adventure. Quests WAS the main play back then so most of the devs efforts went into that. Now it is all about end play and some people cry if they have to do even a single quest.

Dagonflight leveling felt okay, it felt more like exploration. Sadly the main plot of the expansion was hello kitty happy family island adventure but with flying lizards

I honestly think the story is one of the reasons for dragonflight underperforming.

But bfa/shadow negative impact cannot be understated.

Dragonflight came off 2 of the worst expansions that wow had to offer back to back.

That’s cause the writers were writers back then. Now they consider themselves celebrities who have developed this weird thing about fixing everything that’s considered wrong in Warcraft. But Metzen’s back.
