So I am thinking about picking Marauder or Gladiator.
They are about the same right?

Gladiator is much tankier. Gladiator + righteous fire = just run around and kill mobs without pressing any buttons.

It is so vast and complicated game, that I would recommend to use some guides.
Not at all! Its great to discover all the talents and abilities and possibilities. Thats the beauty of the game 
I just became a gladiator in FF14. Downloaded the trial to give it a go. If you become one in PoE we are twinning.

Well, it is kinda nice, but then you got stucked with righteneous fire scion with no future of clearing higher content because … - I sucked 
You cant expect to rule the game with your first char. Just pick the ranger, thats quite interesting class you can experiment with.

As I said, the game is so vast, that you need to do some research if you wanna play a bit serious
But now, more than for PoE next season I am waiting for PD2 season 3 If you like hack n slash, try it. That mod really delivers everything you expect from h and s rpg game
