In Phase 5 of classic era, Blade of Eternal Darkness (BOED) droprate was increased from roughly 0.26%, to around 2%. After P5, basically everyone would have the dagger within 200 runs.
However, as it currently stands, BOED droprate seems to be ~0.26% again. Blizzard even buffed it in SOD to currently be Mage BIS. Do they really want us to spend an average of 1500 runs to get a BIS weapon, in an accelerated version of Seasonal WoW?
In my opionion this was a blizzard oversight, because they buffed it, but forgot to change the rate to the P5 rate, or it has some shared loot table with the old one causing it not to drop correctly. Everything else in the game has been consistent with P5 droprates.
Please let us be able to farm this dagger in less than a 150 hour average grind since it’s a new fun item, and we are in a seasonal accelerated version of WoW.

You have other decent options. Even P2 Gnomer dagger is almost same SP. You don’t have to be Full bis every single phase. Proc is massive only if you do aoe farming, otherwise it is same as Gnomer dagger.
BTW you are not alone, warlock tank also have same drop rate for their bis weapon. It is classic.
Every time I see one of these “omg mah bis” threads I secretly wish it doesn’t drop for the crybaby who’s making the post and everyone else posting a nod.
As has been said: you don’t need every single BiS, and the difference is so minimal you should feel ashamed actually making a thread to complain about it.
The problem here is not what we need, is what we can do with reasonable and realistic investment (what is supposed to be SOD).
SOD phase has limited lifetime and is supposed to be more casual that vanilla.
It’s quite logic to think that droprate of some item like this should be slighly increased, as it has been done for the zf weapon.

I m the MT of one of the top 30 progress world guild in sod. It does not mean that we are really good, but at least we use our stuf to achive an objective.
We don’t log, like you, to show we are individualy the best, but to optimize ourself to be better as a team.
Maybe it’s not your vision of the game. I don’t realy care.

The subject is that it’s probably not intended to have weapon at 0.1-2x drorate on SOD that last way less that vanilla.
If the drop rate is 0.26%, then you need 1500 runs to have 98% drop chance, you need to use exponentials.
It’s not linear, so yea you won’t get it in 400 runs (that’s extreme best case scenario).
You should expect between 400-1500 runs to get it, even 2000 runs or more won’t guarantee it will drop.
Who designed this is a clown, because we play on Seasonal servers…
Both items had similar droprate in Classic, the dps doesn’t matter, both are rare items. In SoD they only increased the droprate of the ZF swords when in P5 the dagger was increased to 2%.
I agree. This can’t be intended and should 100% be fixed.
However, seeing some trolls here actually trying to defend a horrid drop chance, that was fixed before, in a seasonal server, made me laugh
