For some reason I can’t post on anything other than my classic alt, so it’ll need to do.
I contacted the EU Support on Twitter regarding the lag across Argent Dawn and got a reply saying that it’s not a known issue and they aren’t tracking any issues related to this. They also blame the sharding on the realm, saying it’s ‘too busy’:
“Thanks for the report and additional info. On request of the community there is no sharding in Stormwind/OG on RP realms, and given that it’s happening during peak hours it may just be getting a bit too busy.”
This simply isn’t the case as the lag occurs both when Stormwind is quiet in terms of numbers as well as happening external to Stormwind in places like Dornogal.
They seem to suggest this is an isolated issue on my part, so it will be beneficial for as many people as we can to raise it either as a ticket or @BlizzardCSEU_EN on Twitter so they are aware.
While the post focuses on the absolutely horrid Desync/lag/disconnect issues that occurred in NP we started seeing a similar performance issue when it comes to server lag in Stormwind roughly from the same time.
The same is being mentioned across the pond as Moon Guard gets similarly hit with lag when the RPers log on, see:
Lastly, though this seems to have got better, I experienced the same in Epic BGs like IoC where 50+ players can end up assaulting the same flag (usually Hangar).
I’m fairly sure once they are done fiddling with the servers this will also go away (as the one common point of all these scenarios is that they occur in areas where there’s no sharding to alleviate server load), but it’s fair to raise awareness in case it needs to be handled separately.
