Massive constant FPS drops - Latency is stable?

Hi,

I’ve recently been playing a lot due to being in quarantine, and I’ve started to experience some severe lag and FPS drops making almost all the content impossible - especially PvP, raids and the more difficult content.

My FPS is constantly fluctuating between 100 and 1, while my latency fluctuates from 35-40 during the same period. I was attributing the lag due to increase influx of players because of coronavirus lockdown in the UK but it doesn’t make sense with the latency being ok?

My computer is able to run games like Total Warhammer 2 and other MMOs like GW2 without any issues but it is struggling to run WoW on the lowest graphical settings?

I’ve searched up as many relevant topics as I can to try and solve the issue, and have attempted all the fixes I’ve come across.

I’m struggling out here any ideas?

do you have many addons? and if so have you made sure to update them?
and do you use weak auras? and in case which one and how many?
have you checked the temp on your cpu/gpu?
