It only happens on my frost mage on big pulls when I use Blizzard my game becomes a slideshow, tried changing the graphic options and disabling addons but nothing helped.
I noticed that too.
When pulling big like in Academy before the Tree, i get big FPS drops on my frost mage.
I’m not sure if it’s blizzard, could be frozen orb too.
Getting drops to the 30s with my 5800X3D, any other char/spec i stay around 90 FPS or more on the same pulls.
So if the issue is specific to a single character, there are two main possibilities.
First, there is some potential data corruption within the client for that character. It could be addon related or completely unrelated to addons. Without knowing what data may be corrupted the only thing to try here would be to return the client to default condition and retest:
If you have any addon managers installed. They are fine programs but they have the tendency to prevent our troubleshooting steps from working. Please uninstall them and leave them off your system until we have solved the problem.
Once that is confirmed, we need to delete the temporary game files to attempt to eliminate any corrupt data that might be affecting the client or characters. Your game will rebuild them when you next login but this will remove all installed addons. Please do not reinstall any addons until we know the issue is resolved: https://battle.net/support/article/7549
Let’s reset the in game user options:
- Click the blue bnet icon on the bnet app.
- Choose settings, then game settings.
- Click the reset in game user options button under the correct game listing.
- Confirm the changes and close the window.
We will want to run the repair tool on the game client: https://battle.net/support/article/7655
Once that is done, retest without making any alterations to the game client. If the issue is gone, you can slowly make alterations to the client/settings occasionally retesting to see if the issue returns. If so, then you have pinpointed the cause and can work around it as necessary.
Now if the issue persist, there could be a larger issue with the game itself.
In that case the best course of action would be to try and gather as many specifics as possible about the who, what, where of the situation, (character class, specific gear, specific situation, boss, quest, group, anything you can think of that may show us a pattern and then post the issue on the bug report forum.
From there if you feel there may still be a local system/network/client issue you can submit a ticket with system files (instructions in the form) Click your name at the top of this page, click support, then click contact support.
Same - it was fine when I logged off 3 hours ago but logging back in i had 8 fpps max- turning off all addons and reducing graphics to lowest setting made 0 difference
I have this problem across all my chars on at least 2 different servers. Turned off all addons - definitely not about the char: the fix and repair says nothing at all yet my game is unplayable now so please tell me what steps should i take to correct this ?
Tried earlier hoping the patch would’ve fixed it but it’s even worse now, still only for frost mage in big pulls using orb + blizzard = slideshow, it’s not addon related or anything, it’s clearly a poor optimization issue.
Hi guys, I had the same problem and a solution for you.
Delete the config.wtf file in the WTF folder and log into the game. You have to set the graphics option again but that fixes the problem.
If you have low fps on big pulls in general then it is most likely due to a weak CPU.
I mean, I’m in the same boat with a 5800X that’s 2 years old.
But how low are your drops?
Could also be a weakaura or nameplate addon that’s causing the fps drops.
Already tried disabling addons and changing graphical options, nothing changed.
I’ve tried deleting the config file but I haven’t had time to try it in Algethar on the big pull yet.
