Massive framerate drop when window is active

So I have my FPS setting to 30 background 145 foreground. I just entered in to Vault of the Wardens dungeon, when my PC completely locked up and I had to hard shut down. Now for some reason WoW is locked to 6-7 fps when it’s in the foreground. The background is still 30 when I click on my other monitor.

This doesn’t seem to affect other games. Ghostrunner is working fine and so is Monster Hunter World. But Wow at the moment is giving me a panic attack.

I’m currently doing a clean re-install to a different drive, I’ve deleted all my addons and the problem still persisted. Has anyone ever had this happen or know of a possible fix if the re-install doesn’t work?

It kinda sounds like wow isn’t properly able to recognize when it has focus. Does disabling background and foreground FPS options reoslve what you are seeing?

No it didn’t, whatever caused it must have been SSD or some file got corrupted. I scanned for any repairs and it found nothing; problem still persisted. I removed all mods and cleared cache; problem still persisted.

In the end I did a clean re-install to a different drive. Problem fixed, added all my addons back and problem is still fixed and WoW is working fine again.

Not a single clue why this happened. It’s not affecting any other games on the SSD WoW was on so I’m genuinely stumped.
