It just disappears into thin air. Sometimes it works, most of the time it just goes on CD with no animation or anything. Particularly game breaking in PvP.
Is anyone else having this problem?
It works well with MM. I played BM 10 days ago, and it didn’t work for me.
MM can’t have pets anymore, so I assume it’s some weird bug with the same spell working differently with a pet and not having a pet.
Hopefully it is fixed soon.

Yes they can. It’s a DPS loss, but taking a pet is on a MM choice node and the pet is buffed in open world.
