"Mature Language" for Guild Names

So I attempted to create a guild that went by the name the “Black Knights”, and well it told me that the word “Black” was mature language. Overall I think this is ridiculous, and that Blizzard should remove prohibiting simple words such as Black from the mature list!

Reminds me of a guy in rainbow siege who said his weapon skin is “Hielo Negro” in Spanish and got banned because “negro” its an insult in an English speaking country across the sea…

Did he dispute it? That’s hardly a justified ban.

Not sure, but the game has an automatic filter and a bunch of people were getting banned for legitimate uses of words or being baited to say certain words because they didn’t know

Tbh I find this is a serious issue. I use common words and get banned for it because what, actizzard doesn’t invest in a proper mod team?

Why am I even complaining I’m not subbed anymore.

Thanks overwatch :c

Ah yes, the loving mature language filter

You should look on the bright side, it gives you reason to explore your english dictionary and your synonym dictionary on the quest to create some awesome names

I had to disable mature language filter in chat, because I can’t write in my language without the filter going crazy

Create the ‘Dark Knights’ instead, or ‘50 Shades of Knights’ or somthing like that :hugs:

Didn’t this thread happen already?

It did, and apparently not so long ago :slightly_smiling_face:

Probably says something about the community when Blizzard thinks a filter like this is necessary. In a perfect world we wouldn’t need it, but there are a lot of edgelords out there that would abuse the removal of the filter.

Actizzard thinks this is necessary because they think players should be micromanaged.

Some smarty pants there has a god complex and feels the need to control everything.

Never seen word “Black” used in racist way in a guild name. This is just ridiculous.

Yea but the big difference of course is the word ‘Black’ by itself isn’t in itself and never was offensive.

It only is when coupled with other words. Really, this is true for almost any word, which is why it’s utterly ridiculous. Black is a term used much, and even in WoW-- I mean what if you wanted to have a ‘Black Dragon Cult’ guild? How about ‘The Black Empire Legion’?

I mean can we report Blizzard’s own naming in the game? I mean black dragons, isn’t that offensive?

See a solution exists, and that is to censor only combinations of words, rather than individual ones that by themself, or in most contexts, are not at all offensive.

‘Order of The White Moon’ is clearly a perfectly fine and suitable RP name; however ‘Order of White Supremacy’ clearly isn’t.

It’s not.

Did you?

We all know people will, and have, abused these systems. It’s just unfortunate that innocent words and phrases get caught in the crossfire. It is what it is.

I know it’s not the same and I agree with you it’s outright stupid to censor the word “black” or “negro”, but in the meantime you can think of a synonym or another word that conveys the concept of “black”? Or misspell it: “blak”, “blaq(ue)” or “blaçk”.
