Mechagon/Nazjatar rares

Are the long respawn timers necessary ? Their extremely low drop rates already makes them “rare”. At least some of them should be on short timers like the Argus ones, and the rares with fast respawn should be rotated daily.

This would make it less frustrating getting to a rare just to watch it’s death animation, and hopefully discourage people spamming server hops just to get a rare faster.

Is it necessary? Probably not.

Are long respawn times annoying and frustrating? Yes, definitely.

But that’s the whole point of “rares”.

I don’t want achievements handed to me on a silver platter. I want to feel like I’ve actually achieved something.

Make rares rare again!

The thing is that they are supposed to be rare and if they made the drops and mounts more accessible by making their spawn times similar to normal rares it would cut the value of what they drop in half due to more people bothering to farm it and hence leading to more people earning the mounts. As you see with the Bronze Drake and the amarni battle bear which are cool mounts but as they are easy to get they hold no value and you don’t care if you see someone who owns the mount. So no, they should be kept rare as it is in the name and if you don’t like it then you don’t deserve it.

Fact is they still have a daily lockout on top of the low droprate. You can’t loot them more than once per day.

So if now I’m farming them with 10 characters I have 10 chances per day. If they had a short respawn, I would still have 10 chances per day. It would just be faster without having to wait while doing something else on second monitor.

I also like the “rare” rares, but rare mobs with wanted drops like mounts or pets make sense if the droprate is decent. With a droprate lower than 0.5% like mechagon/nazjatar rares, the long respawn timer is something really unnecessary, just made to make you stay online longer doing nothing but wait.

Mechagon rares are easy to spot and spawn very often. On the other hand in Nazjatar it is way harder!

The old rares with guaranteed drops ? Sure.

The rares that you are literally supposed to grind on a daily basis labelled as content? Yeah no.

Rare elites were also supposed to be hard to kill, are we glossing over it?

I don’t need to kill any more mechagon rares, I did my rest in pistons back when it didnt scale.

this activity is toxic and I rate it as a poorest attempt at time gating.

I’d prefer such rares to be scattered all over azeroth, instead of being concentrated in one or two small zones, have random spawn points and timers and prerequisites from in game weather to irl dates and times, have their loot droprates increased and lockouts kept at a 24 hrs tops. They shoud also scale up in tiers. As in lowest lvl 50/70/90/110, highest - current expansion max lvl, so max lvl wouldnt oneshot them, but lower levels could also participate.
And i am being serious.

it’s not the answer, give it up, stop inhaling it

Aight, lemme eleborate for the connoisseurs of fine paint.
Reducing spawntimes, or/and removing lock outs will have a benefit of giving players the “cool” items the easy way. Making any “rare” into a lesser version of some, even regular, mobs with rare drops on them. With this the engagement would consist of spending several hours on a weekend in one spot watching youtube or netflix.

What i am proposing is the variation of a FFXIV system of hunts, where rare spawns happen all the time all over the current game map. Rares have tiers and could be soloed or require a raid group to kill, like the current world bosses do. The difference is current world bosses appear on the map and are relevant for a relatevly short period of game lifetime. Removing them from maps and expected spawn points and times, while making them desirable targets (with desirable loots, like mounts and transmogs and even currency for special items or the items from the rare lootable) would force people to communicate their positions, or hog them for themselves increasing drama potential, depending of course on the difficulty of the rares.

Sure, getting a mount for a couple of hours of farming is cool, but it has only a selfish benefits of player A getting a mount. While more difficult and rare bosses and items all over the world could make the community more active and the old world more alive with people hunting rares.

Even now people go back to oneshot some rare spawns for mounts and transmogs, making them non-soloable would make the process more engaging and the drops more valuable.

And if someone just wants a cool mount, hey, there’s always an in-game shop for them

can we just go back to darkshore system?
I can solo A…smth hydra rare on my 397 shaman, make them scalable to be a challenge for 430 heroic bois and we are done.
failures will camp it in groups, normal ppl will be able to solo their rares while watching YT.

no need for current 40 man rustfeather camping spots with HP scaling coming from 3k dps taggers.

I like the interactions it creates though. Folks sharing the position of the rares they found, just tagging the rares like rustfeather until everyone is here and so on

I fail to see why this is worse than a random dude with 430ilvl solo’ing a rare on his own.

rust up

rust died

sick interaction, sry but it’s true

challenge and alt progression to be able to solo it > random time waste with random strangers
