Is it just me that remembers that as an engineer you could salvage parts needed to make the Chopper in the original WOTLK from 25man Ulduar?
I have purposely held off sinking around 12.5k buying the mats from the vendor put simply as I feel it is a heck of alot of gold which I would rather spend elsewhere right now.
I remember you had a chance to salvage the parts from;
Flame Leviathan
XT-002 Deconstructor
Mimiron
But after 12 kills on each boss in 25man, our guild is yet to see a single part be salvaged.
Is it just me or does it feel like the chance to salvage the parts not in the game or have we just been incredibly unlucky or was this something that was added at a later patch or something?
I remember the same thing and avoided getting the chopper for the very same reason, expecting the part prices to drop well bellow what the vendor asks. But other guild members told me the drop rate is exceedingly low, or that they never even heard of it in original Wrath. Nobody seems to be sure if it’s an oversight by current year Blizzard or what.
Never heard of this, salvaged Ulduar bosses many times. Chances of this working out for you when the entire raid is also probably engineer and is also trying to salvage, pretty unlikely.
The vendor parts, yes. There are also some other items required - crafted engineering parts, rare leather, titansteel bars, I think something else as well. And of course the crafter need to be exalted with their respective northrend faction to buy the recipe (and be able to buy the vendor parts, only those who can craft the bike can buy them), so the crafting fee might reflect that.
As far as I remember it was a thing originally when Ulduar first released during actual WotLK, but somewhere along the tier they were explicitly removed from the salvage tables.
I just assumed that since we’re on 3.3.5, we had the iteration where they no longer drop.
