And I fail to see any merit in it. What would be gained in making the only gnome high profile gnome character a mecha/junker gnome character? Especially since he just got a new model.
They could do it. But it doesn’t even sound very cool, so why would they? I expect the Mechagon story to have something to do with his unfreezing, but we don’t have to take limbs off for that to work.
That’s true… he could not be visibly machine, afterall, his new model just has to be modified, he still has the same face defintion, just part of the trunk changed.
You don’t like it? I think its kinda cool, He would still be the gnomish leader, but its possible they save his life, because he is near death atm…
The master inventor saved by strangers’ technology, because he did an oopsie with his own? Sounds a bit depressing, actually. I guess that could be a character arc… I just wouldn’t expect it to be a good one.
Apart from that, I still think junker gnomes are among the top candidates for Alliance allied races. If that ever happens, it would be quite strange to have the gnomish leader be one of them. It would give normal gnomes a subordinate position to junkers. Imagine Velen getting lightforged in 7.3, before the LF draenei joined. I doubt that would have been very well recieved.
I guess it all depends on how they do it and what the greater purpose of his cyber nature would be in the story… but looking at it in isolation I don’t like it.
I don’t get this, while this could be an outcome, the opposite can also be true.
But then, if junker gnomes are half mecha-gnomes half gnomes, their state of technology is going to be superior to the current gnomes.
Isn’t having Mekkatorque both junker gnome and gnome leader actually elevate the gnomes, as much as it could do the opposite? or maybe they use the opportunity to create some delicious nuance, and variation, have a degree of complexity and interaction with certain factions that look down on full gnomes, but on the other hand, others that don’t?
The state of the junker gnomes could actually be quite the opposite to what we see, i mean blizzard did explain you have the poor lot omore like the scrap heap lot at the bottom, and the more regal ones at the top which I presume are the ones you fight in the dungeon.
What if these gnomes generally feel lowest of hte low because o f their mixed status, and the top ones have gone all evil and need to be taken down, and Mekkatorque, newly repaired, become a champion, joining a faction of upper class mechas who want to see the corruption in the upper class ended, but are incapable of overcoming htem. However Mekkatorque, newly cyborg, is the brains and genius behind the operation the player character hero helps, that ends the tyranny, earning him and normal gomes the full respect of the rebel upper class faction, and all the junker gnomes having pride restored to them. One that doesn’t see them look down on full flesh gnomes, having been themselves discriminated against for so long.
And why does he have to be a cyborg for that? As far as we heard their culture tries to get rid of their flesh bodies and your status is higher, the more machine you are. Wouldn’t “upgrading” Mekkatorque send just the oppsite message to your anti-oppression idea?
He doesn’t, ofc, but it’s just an illustration to show how being a cyborg doesn’t necessarily have to make the gnomes look bad, but can also do the opposite… or at least inteprreted to be the opposite
It can go another way. He may work with a band of rebel mecha gnomes, and King Mechagon (the speculated antagonist) has motives similar Gearmaster Mechazod, who wants to make everyone more machine (maybe to get rid of all weaknesses), whereas the rebel gnomes want to be able to decide how much of a machine they want to be.
But the society they stem from has more problems with their fleshy parts, so why would these have to be changed in Gelbin to make him more of a hero to them, if you plan to change them?
It might. I just don’t see an argument for mechafying Gelbin in it.
Yes, and Gelbin could be the hero of it, proving and openly showing the worth to the upper echelons.
It wasn’t an argument, the only reason i feel Gelbin might be made a mecha is because he is nearly dead, and they don’t know how to save him.
ANd this development is just part of the story - and what they use to get the junker/mechas joining the alliance as an allied race.
IWhile I think you’re right and Gelbin can achieve the same thing fully flesh, it is just part of the story.
I personally think that Gelbin becoming half-mecha is astronger incentive and closer bond of having the junkers/mechas join the gnomes in the alliance conflict.
I thought he was near death currently… as in very critical.
After Talanji destroyed the kul’tiran artifact creating fog, the entire ocean becomes permantly shrouded, making sea-travel impossible while emboldening the naga to rule it un-opposed. To counteract this, the mortally wounded Mekkatorque is placed upon the cog-throne in the hearts of the the dun morogh mountain-chain, the throne made by Tech scavanged from from the mechagon.
Through the cog-throne the deathless high-tinker Projects a beacon of his pure brilliance serving as a guiding light for Alliance warships.
It could go different ways, like magni turning into a diamond pretty much off screen and then being forgotten for a long time.
Or maybe this time hey froze him for a reason, wich in my opinion seems more likely with the hinting of mecha gnomes as an allied race. Wether it is them unfreezing him or saving him by replacing body parts with machines idk
